VCI Acade button Mod - DIY hole drilling?
VCI Acade button Mod - DIY hole drilling? Posted on: 06.04.2008 by Xavier Emanuels Anyone know a cheap DIY way to make the holes though the VCI (i have the older style with the beefy steel). These are the arcade buttons i have been looking at because the http://www.happcontrols.com has been down the last couple of days.(Atleast i cant access it anyway, i am getting 404- page not found errors). Also this place will probably wind up cheaper for me to order from. Also will that locking mechanism stand up to what i need it for, or should i be looking for a screwing mechanism? Or will superglue keep it snug ? | |
Dj Faddie 09.02.2010 | Could you photograph and or video your work....I am also looking to get Arcade buttons on my VCI-100 and can't find a proven and well documented way. I appreciate anyone to give me some more options and suggestions. |
Harlan Beith 28.01.2010 | what are you guys paying at shops to have this done for you? |
Oralee Volkova 18.12.2009 | Hole saws are bad news especially if there is some sort of preexisting hole. Hole saws require a pilot bit in the center. even those with bits will walk and hole will not be the exact measurement. I used to build race trucks for a living and even with $150 hole saws and $15000 drill press, errors can happen. for exact fit go smaller and file or dremel to spec. Just ordered my buttons today. I am just going to file to what i need and use filler and paint the whole vci so i can label it. Im in to rush, i want it done right, not right now. I will photograph progress and post for any interested. hope any of this helps. |
Xavier Emanuels 05.10.2009 | If worst comes to worse and you mess up the holes you can glue a sheet of acrylic plastic onto the back of the VCI-100 case, fill the holes with two pack car filler and start again |
Twyla Tylinski 05.10.2009 | Just another part I've found on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/14-26mm-TITANI...d=p3286.c0.m14 I'd like to attempt this mod myself without going to a specialist but I need someone with metal work knowledge to let me know if it is possible (on a budget) without destroying my VCI-100 case. |
Twyla Tylinski 05.10.2009 | So, are you saying if I purchase this following product: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BOSCH-24mm-PRO...d=p3286.c0.m14 And if I attach this to an ordinary power drill then I can make my own holes in my VCI-100? If this is the case then I believe I'll go for it. However, if some more technical persons among you can advise me then that'll be great. |
Adolf Hit 04.10.2009 | I believe the safest option if you are not that confident is to file the holes out carefully. |
Christie Rinder 04.10.2009 | u cant buy the cases pre-cut |
Lorene Boehler 04.10.2009 | http://ranking s.myshopify.com/produ...od-kit_vci-100 |
Christie Rinder 04.10.2009 | really? where do i find the pre-cut cases??? |
Lorene Boehler 04.10.2009 | This site does sell a kit with a pre-cut vci case, arcade buttons, and a step-by-step guide. You might just wanna buy that. |
Candace Carmouche 04.10.2009 | first answer the following question: if i break my vci case, can i afford to buy another vci to replace it if it comes down to it? if yes then = go for it if no might wanna look into selling yours and just buying a premodded one (unless you can pay ean to mod yours? not sure if he'll do that) |
Christie Rinder 04.10.2009 | what is the best way to cut these holes myself? i cant find a shop anywhere i'm from Connecticut. Can someone tell me a do it yourself way that has been tested and works efficiently. |
Adolf Hit 04.10.2009 | 23 mm, I dont believe you will be able to drill that without a mill... will need to be a hole saw. |
Christie Rinder 04.10.2009 | What is the exact size for the arcade buttons sold on this site?..i mean if i were to go buy a drill bit to the EXACT size i need for the arcade hole what would be the best size? |

Shahriar Seyedifar 29.09.2009 | what is with am Core Drill 26mm? I come from Germ. and make a apprenticeship as a metalworker since 3 years. I have drill many holes in metal and i believe a core drill was a good choise. Beacause the steel from the VCI-100 Case is not bigger then 2,5 or 3 mm. By my Drill machine in the hall i can chose the rotation per minute. With a Core Drill (size 26mm) you can nothing do wrong, my experience! Maybe i load a short Video or some Pictures when i do such holes for exaple by the VCI 100 Projekt! |
Lilliana Perris 17.08.2009 | I wanted to order mine from Lizard Lick.....but the Shipping woulda been as much as the products.....if not 10 x more! Got mine direct from Hong Kong. |
mohammed farhan 03.07.2008 | ean any updates on the upgrade kit for the vci 100 arcade buttons. |
Adolf Hit 09.04.2008 | yeah they are the buttons I wanted to use for the midi-fighter but I could never find any that where even close to shallow enough, they are all like 55 mm deep |
Fady Soliman 08.04.2008 | humm that would be cool, believe those could be installed on the vci 100 and have them light up also? |

robert chanda 07.04.2008 | To make holes, you need two things:
More on drilling holes here: http://www.geocities.com/budb3/arts/meth/drill.html The most professional results come from using a laser cutter and building a completely new faceplate from scratch. I'm lucky enough to have a TechShop just up the road where I can use one for $30 a day. |
Georgi Petrov 07.04.2008 | Hi, http://www.happcontrols.com is the correct website |
Adil Laresh 07.04.2008 | they also have this size.. http://www.highway.net.au/parts/push...ns/9307_1.html seems to be 26mm oh and Bento nice to see a fellow Aussie on the board mate!!! Im in Sydney |
Xavier Emanuels 06.04.2008 | Damn was just doing some messuring and they will be too big, i will have to find 26mm or a 28mm version thats nice and small. |
