Reply to arcade mode : about diodes

first of all, sorry for my bad english.

I've buy arcade buttons and i see the tutorial. i understood that i have to put diode 50prv 200ma between cable and button. but i don't know if there is a sense (direct or not) for the diode?

can you help me ?
