I Need to come up with a DJ Name! :)
Posted on: 26.05.2012 by Antoinette Bradshaw
Hey guys...

Weve all gone through this tedious, annoying, hard stage in our dj career...and ive decided "What better way to suffer the pain of finding a Dj Name but with my friends at DJTT's"

Care to help me out?

Names ive thought of so far:

HausMusicHater (House-Music-Hater): Even tho i love house music and all my mixes would be house/electro

*Update* DaaronAvid: Thanks to Ed Paris!

tbh I wouldn't worry about how unique (or not) something is as long as you don't call yourself "Dead Mouse" or similar. Just make sure you know who you are and you have your OWN style.

I believe this is the first time I've seen a DJ name thread not completely disintegrate. Better make a decision and quit while you're ahead here.

no "dj" and space between the names! like i already said daaron avid is cool but you still could always go with your real name.

If i put a space between DaaronAvid, then when you google it (Sorry i keep bringing up the G word ) you get 4Million somewhat hits, plus its taken by some guy named Daron Avid (with one a)

When he played at our parties last year he was already quite on the rise in the Berlin scene just because he knew many of the people even before he had started gigging (he's a good DJ as well, but that's not the primary reason he got booked so much). He already played 2 or 3 gigs a week at fairly renown clubs in Berlin. And the last couple of months he has gone through the roof completely - playing even more gigs in even better clubs in Berlin (even my favourite club of all: kater holzig, the successor of the infamous Bar25) and has loads of international bookings as well (according to his gigatools-page). Did any of that depend on his publicity on the internet? I don't believe so - it's really more about meeting people out in the real world.
Wow! I wanna be just like your friend! Thats honestly what i told my mom and dad when i was about 11 years old...i said when i grow up i wanna dj for rich people

Scrap the "DJ" in front. And really really really put a space between Daaron and Avid.

There's more to gaining publicity than Google. Posting links to work and mixes on here and other sites for example, people actually searching on Beatport, posting links to a direct artist page and so on.

Google came up with 0 Results for DaaronAvid !

I know that aspect of pubilicity, im just wondering how he gets people to find him through the internet? Like when i google Jason Bay i just get a baseball player
Celestine Porebski

By playing gigs? Or releasing music?

Oh, and what Mr. Paris said. Nice one.

how about daaron avid? it
Antoinette Bradshaw
26.05.2012
Hmm, respectable... But how do u gain pubilicity?
Georgina Schatzman
26.05.2012
Well, look at me.

My first name is Jason and I took "Bay" after Green Bay (I live in Milwaukee, but Green Bay is still a significant city in WI as a whole). I was also debating "Shed" after the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago since I spend a lot of time there as it is.
Antoinette Bradshaw
26.05.2012
Like when i google HausMusicHater, 2 results come up.

So when i establish my self, all thats gunna show up on google are only my posts and stuff like Soundcloud, Twitter, Facebook etc
Georgina Schatzman
26.05.2012
But if they can't even spell it, pronounce it or remember it because it's not even a name then that's not helping the cause
Antoinette Bradshaw
26.05.2012
Example? Like AaronCnTower? haha
Antoinette Bradshaw
26.05.2012
Im Looking for a unique name thats not really wide spread
Georgina Schatzman
26.05.2012
Or stick with your first name and find something significant in your city to use as your last (A famous/important street, land mark, building and so on)
Antoinette Bradshaw
26.05.2012
i Googled Aaron David.... came up with 700k results...
i Googled DJaarondavid...came up with 4Million results haha

Its already taken
