Most EQ overkill I ever witnessed. God I love that mixer, definitely a great purchase. EDIT: But OP if you 're still not sure: If my mixer were to ever break down I'd also look at either the Xone 42 or the Denon 1600 so you're on the right track. And I can imagine that choosing between those 2 mixers is a though choice. |

Having the mixer TSP compatible is really nice for keeping things simple, and the sound quality on the Denons is fantastic. I had the 1700 for a while and loved it; the only sound issue I would complain about is the sound quality coming off the headphone amp, it's noticeably bad, but it's plenty good enough to mix with. So as long as you're not buying the mixer to use as a headphone amp you're good.... |
Danae Dumler 07.08.2012 | Interesting, I thought the DB4 was the first to do that; very cool. I always wondered about those Korgs, I remember playing with one years ago at some trade show right when they came out and believeing how cool they were. But I had no idea they were set up to mix with filters like that, how do the filters sound? Do you find yourself using that mode? For me thats been the most exciting thing about using the DB4; the effects are great but like any effects, you don't want to use them on most of your mixes. But I eq in filter mode only and really love it. Had I known then what I know now I probably would have bought that mixer and not bothered with the DB4.... Still, the DB4 goes to 11...... |

Latoria Kavulich 02.08.2012 | go for the 42 or x1600 + the x1. i use 2 x1's and the x1600 myself and its badass. |

"Damn, why the hell is the volume so low - something can not be right" - figuring out that the D/W knobs have been touched can take a bit of time. And NoizeUnit, are you sure about the -26db? Sadly my 42 was stolen, so I can't test it right now (and I'm too lazy to search for the manual), but I'm fairly certain the EQs were full kill. |
Hanna Ridenbaugh 02.08.2012 | Must have missed the aux send on the 42 when I was reading up on it. |

Kasandra Kreindler 02.08.2012 | No, just standard EQ (-26db cutoff), when i sell my 42 and get the DB4 i will have fun with Trimodal EQs |
Nereida Jasnoch 02.08.2012 | Timecode setup with an S4 feels lame as fuck. Get a genuine mixer for your own enjoyment if money is no issue. Add X1 or midifighter if you wanna go crazy. ^NoizeuNit, does the Xone 42 have multiple EQ modes and if not is the standard mode full kill ? Just wondering. |

Ciara Cuttill 02.08.2012 | allen heath 42+x1 ... this |
Hanna Ridenbaugh 02.08.2012 | The xone 42 does not have aux send/return which s useful for the loop recorder or external fx unit. But if your just doing standard mixing of tracks that does not matter. 4d is little old now and lacks led feedback but still an amazing unit. Not to keen on s4 myself, doesn't feel like it can last forever, just my opinion. Denon, well I've only played on their two channel mixers which were great. Hope that helps |
