Fellow DJ's!I have a question My current setup looks like this: photo.jpg But now i want to go for a similar but different approach Aka my new project! I want to replicate my setup but with iPads running TouchOSC. The problem i have run into his how i will go about connecting 4-5 iPads to my computer to run traktor with. I currently have a Audio 8 behind my setup that is connecting the mixer to traktor if that helps. Please help me out | |

Cole Maroto 24.08.2012 | I am interested in a mf3d if you give me a reasonable price on it. I had someone on Craigslist try to sell me his for $250, and dropped the price to $245 when I told him to give me a realistic price. |
Brooke Cary 23.08.2012 | Sorry. My post wasn't clear at all. I meant individually. Would you be willing to sell the gear individually? I dont' need all of it. Also, I'd recommend up a post in the Buy and Sell community if you haven't already. |
Antoinette Bradshaw 23.08.2012 | Depends, its all brand new gear
with original boxes and accessories (except for the X1's which i lost the box for, but i have manuals and restore discs) I have to check the price of shipping so, 700 without shipping sound good? |
Brooke Cary 23.08.2012 | Yea actually. How much are you selling them for? |
Antoinette Bradshaw 23.08.2012 | Quick question.... Anyone wanna buy my 2 midi fighters and 2 kontrol x1s? |
Leeanna Ayla 20.08.2012 | Retina is nice, but totally not necessary. If new iPads are announced next month 3's will go on sale. Resale value on used iPads is still pretty high. |
Antoinette Bradshaw 20.08.2012 | ohh, lol totally gapped on getting another cable! Ill probably do that then, ill probably sell my 2 midi fighters and my kontrol x1's to gain some extra cash for something extra ontop of my iPads... Now my other problem is iPad 1, 2, or 3? I believe i might go with iPad2's |
Leeanna Ayla 20.08.2012 | The iConnect looks like the best deal since it serves as a hub allowing you to connect up to 12 devices when you plug in a powered hub into it. It only comes with one cable though so you'll need to buy another Ipad to mini-usb cable. http://www.iconnectivity.com/iConnectMIDI-Cable |

Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | well i would only need 2 iPads, since Touch OSC incorporates multi Pages of different setups |
Brooke Cary 19.08.2012 | that should work. but only for 2 iPads (unless you get midi cables). How many iPads are you planning on using? |
Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | that works right? |
Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | ok ive finally grasped it! Thanks for all the help! I believe im gunna go with the IConnect Midi because it involves the least amount of wires (They provide 30Pin to Micro USB cable which plugs into the IConnect) |

Leeanna Ayla 19.08.2012 | The folks that do the Lemur app recommend the iConnect MIDI. It's $179 at Sweetwtaer and looks like it has two separate MIDI I/O's so you would only need one. The I/O dock's are $199 each and you can only use one per ipad. They do have some extra audio I/O's though. The Audio 8 is routed through traktor so it doesn't need to know anything about Your iPads. You can use your A8 as a MIDI interface for one iPad. |
Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | So the Camera COnnection kit acts as the Midi Interface? |
Leeanna Ayla 19.08.2012 | You have to have a midi interface in between the iPad and the computer. You'll need one usb to midi cable per ipad. |
Tania Somppi 19.08.2012 | Don't believe the iRig is what you want. The Midi Mobilizer adds midi ports to the iPad but it's still expensive imo and you still need to get that midi signal into the computer. |
Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | And the sound would come thru the mixer which is hooked up to my Audio 8 correct? Since all the ipads do are control traktor |
Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | ohhhhhhhh so basically i get 2 of those Camera Connections which converts the 30pin Standard Ipad usb to regular USB, then i get 2 usb cables that go from the Camera Connection kit to my Macbook? |
Tania Somppi 19.08.2012 | It's a USB port for the iPad Can be had for very much cheapness on Ebay or for much money from Apple for their version Mine has a few other extras added on that the iPad coulda, shoulda, woulda had like a mini USB port, VGA out and some mem card readers. The newer ones have HDMI out now I believe. |
Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | What about something like the Midi Mobilizer, or the iRig? |
Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | I havent looked at pricing yet, but whats a camera connection kit, like whats included? And where can i buy one? |
Tania Somppi 19.08.2012 | A camera connection kit, 2 midi to USB leads and 2 midi to midi adapters per iPad would be a hell of a lot cheaper than IODocks (and give the same functionality unless u want/need the extra ins and outs of the IODock) |

Antoinette Bradshaw 19.08.2012 | ok so IODock it is! |

But ive gone thru 16 different setups in the last 4 years and so far ive loved the External mixer more than anything, so ill most likely stick with my ddm4000 And is it possible to run the ipads straight into my computer thru the Apples Standard USB Cable? Just a question |
Brooke Cary 19.08.2012 | If cost wasn't a factor I agree, the IOdock would be good. Has anyone here ever used it though? Hows latency on it? |
Leeanna Ayla 19.08.2012 | I had issues with midi over wifi. If I were going to run multiple iPads I would probably go with the I/O dock. |
Brooke Cary 19.08.2012 | You could always just have separate pages on the iPad in TouchOSC or Lemur. I personally run my iPad to my computer over WiFi. Occasionally I'll use 2 iPads over WiFi, but you need to be sure that the midi channels are different. Latency has never been a problem though. As someone who has used an iPad in his setup though, I'd advise you to stick with a physical mixer. I have been switching between the iPad and a real mixer for quite some time and I still feel that while the iPad can sometimes do more, it also is better at supplementing a mixer than being a mixer. |
Tania Somppi 19.08.2012 | A camera connection kit, 2 USB to midi leads and 2 midi to midi adapters per iPad You could connect via wifi but I wouldn't rely on it tbqh Another option is to buy a dock add on for each iPad, to add midi connectivity, like the IODock. |
Matt Kane 19.08.2012 | why would you want to only run ipads and loose the tactile feeling? |
