I'm just asking because everytime someone ask what I play and I respond with progressive house the immediate response is big room house. Not anything wrong with that, I just don't play it at all. I guess I see what I play bordering trance, progressive house, and deep house. But I have always seen music like this as true progressive house, not what is being touted as progressive house now (ala Avicii, Alesso, SMH etc). I guess like Jaytech, Shingo Nakamura, Claes rosen, Sergey Tkachev, Dinka, Fon.Lehman, Ad Brown, Aerofeel5.

Does anyone play music like this frequently? Any recommendations?

I really like some Anjunadeep releases. Sadly, they are very few and in-between giant piles of cheesy crap. I actually unfollowed them on Beatport because the nice ones were too rare.

This is EXACTLY the music and genre that i'm in to. I generally just say its progressive. It definitely isnt just trance and i'd even go as far as saying its not progressive trance either (i'd generally label the anjunabeats stuff progressive trance). The Anjunadeep label encompasses this style and the Jaytech podcast is bang on the money also.

A few other names i'd add to your list would be Roddy Reynaert, Kobane & Yane3dots, mindset, Ben Coda, Levente Marton, Answer 42, Soundprank and Andrew Bayer.

IMO this is some of the best music around at this moment in time!

Loverocket has posted 2 excellent tunes.

Sorry, but I can't say the same for the others. Most of them have some of those horrible cheesy synths in the breakdowns.

16 bit lolitas are probably the most reliable prog producers I know of. Other producers come and go, peak and decline, but these guys I've been listening to since...2003, ever since I first started listening to house music. And they still put out some really good shit.

Haha yeah I border between trance and prog. I def don't play true trance or prog. But I can't define it as one or the other either.

I play a border of both. For example as such.

But then I'll do this.

I wouldn't go as far to say its deep house. But it certainly is frustrating saying prog house to be mistaken for big room prog. The origins of it certainly have a dark, tech feel to them. I personally enjoy tracks that have prog elements to them that are fairly funky as well. These are probably more house then anything, but I have found myself gravitating toward playing music like this.
