So , I paid 425$ (brand new too!) for my S2 about 8 months ago, and sold it today for 520$ !
(What a deal for me , I know right!)

Anyways , I took that money and added some I've been saving up lately and finally got enough for a new mixer/controller, but I'm stumped!

The S4 sells for 799$ on DJTT Store, but the Z2 sells for 799$ in the DJTT store as well ! I was planning on getting CDJ's this summer anyway , but have no idea which way to go !

Could I use the Z2 to DJ without cdj's until I have enough for the CDJ's ? Or should I just stick with the S4 and use the inputs to connect the CDJ's ! Somebody help me out !

Thanks,
Swede Dreams

To add LED for each command use ADD OUT menu and follow the same path.

After adding any command just enable LEARN button > press button to assign > deactivate LEARN. Lastly, set the command for corresponding deck using 'deck assignment' slot.

When you're done with this let me know and I'll give you an example how to map shift button and hotcues.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what ?
lolololol , I don't even know where to start with this. But I had an idea.

I take the Z2 , use my midi fighter to control the two decks.

Top Row of the Midi Fighter = Play + Pause + Sync + Cue
Second Row = 4 Hotcues
Third & Fourth row are the same as the first two rows, just controlling deck b instead of deck a (which the first 2 rows are controlling)

May I KINDLY ask somebody if they can make this mapping for me ? (MF Classic)
I would love you forever

Buttons are buttons. You have twice as many on the Midifighter, but you could use the Shift modifier to get the same number of controls on the Z2.

Edit: I wouldn't ever use the Z2 without a computer connected.

I know, but then again realize that it is my first time mapping in traktor......ever.

So , thanks everyone for your suggestions ! I just want to end off with one question/statement thingy.

I'm getting the Z2. Until I have the money to purchase the CDJ's , I'll be controlling the Z2 transport through my midi fighter.
I will use the four buttons on either side of the Z2 to control cuepoints (as I will have no jogwheels until I get the CDJ's)

When I do get the CDJ's , I'm ditching the PC and going straight into Z2 + CDJ's .

Everything sound good ?
thanks everyone

Well I'm in Traktor mappings more than 10 years now and trust me when I say that this is the most simple configuration that you're trying to achieve here. The hotcues are not something that would or should affect to your standard CUE command - not quite sure how your CUE won't work except if you didn't assign deck target correctly.

man , my head is literally exploding. props to you on being minister of mappings aha !

I can jump to my cue 1 on deck b , but now cannot set a cue on my deck b transport !

When I get the Z2, will it be easier just to use midi fighter as transport then use the 4 buttons on each deck of the z2 as cue controls ?

Down in button options where you set the value and when you click at lil slot in right a dropdown menu with all the hotcue numbers should appear.

how do i do the last part ? value to select cue number ? when I click value , a little grey box appears in where the dropdown is supposed to be !

Add out > Track deck > Cue > Set/Store Hotcue / button / hold / value to select cue number

Thanks man ! I got the gist of it !

One more question ! I got the transport controls working , but how do I set my second and fourth rows to jump to cue points ?
I can't figure it out !

That's an incredibly simple mapping that should only take you 10 minutes tops.

Watch a tutorial video if you don't know how to map.

Overkill for a cue mapper lol. You could just pick up an LPD8 to do that for a fraction of the cost and save that Midi Fighter for remix decks!

Feels bad to rip the fellow off , but I had to do what I had to do ! I see the Z2 has the "1,2,3,4" buttons on the side !
Could I just map those too play stop sync and cue ? then use the flux button as shift, and when I hold shift (flux), have access to four cue points?

I'm absolutely horrible at mapping. Ableton, different story. Traktor , no idea. I'd gladly get the Z2 if somebody could make a mapping for me until I snag those CDJ's ! Thanks guys !

If you have a Mac, you can create a mapping very easy with Xtreme Mapping.
Just select the function that you want and midi learn it!

Or how about I stop being a dipshit and use my midi fighter to control cues and transport ! :')

(if someone were to make a mapping , or teach me how)

Definitely the Z2 when you're getting CDJs. In middle time here are some mappable buttons on each side that can serve you for some basic transport controls.

Go for the Z2 - it's awesome, and you're doing way better than jogs if you're using 1200s or CDJs.

Get the S2 out of your signature!

What!???

What moron paid 520 for an S2???
Alphonso Deitchman
26.03.2013
Definitely go for the Z2 if you plan on ever getting CDJs. You seem to have plenty of other controllers than can fill in for transport control until then.
