This is so true!!! It happened to me once but it was more the fact that I played quite a lot of songs from the dirtybird label!

I'd check out the dirty bird label. A lot of good tunes. I don't spin as much deep house as I would like though. If you're in a pinch you can check out a few compilation CD's on spotify or start a Deep House radio station on there. I'm sure you'll find some good tunes.

Badly. He's not replying because he was lynched halfway through his set when he ran out of songs and was forced to play "Call Me Maybe"

Getting some good recs from this topic!

I've had really good luck with mixing deep house with more bassy/UKG tracks with RnB vibe... I really like these tracks & they almost always go over well with crowds because of their accessibility. Here's an example: https://soundcloud.com/boean/no-love-dear

Here's my latest deep house mix, will have to check out the mixes posted ITT during work today... https://soundcloud.com/tortango/episode-18-acceleration

I like a bit of Waifs & strays to add a bit of groove to deep sets.

+1 on the Waze & Odyssey stuff, putting out some great tunes at the mo.

OP; For instant collection; http://www.traxsource.com/genre/13/deep-house. It's not something I always suggest to do (as better to dig as well) but as time is short, just go through the latest releases and Top 20, take a listen and pick out the tracks you like and believe might fit in with what promoter is looking for, then check the labels/producers to widen your search. That will at least get you out of jail for this gig, best of luck

Same, but I can just push Au Seve and Need U before it's too much. For me, anything that sounds like early Chicago house with modern production techniques is deep, and anything that's Detroit house with the same production techniques is tech, but might as well be deep.

And, my mum likes deep house, cause it sounds like the whole 90's detroit house movement. That's how uncool it is. Or how cool my mum is. Whichever.

There's lots of different flavors of deep. I tend to play a lot of the deep moody kind of house mixed with a tech and nu-disco kind of sound for added spice. My last 20 or so shows have all followed this recipe.

EDIT: There's also some techno, disco, Christmas music and punk rock mixed in there.

I like your style Sam!!

Better play it somehow then not at all.. Sometimes it works really well though

I had to do the same once with - Julio bashmore's - battle for the middle, layered the vocals from sean pauls - temperature.

It worked ace, and now i use it at all my gigs, even the uber cool kids who hate the slightest commercial trak get down, i suppose for a crowd like that its slightly like a breath of fresh air.

I play only commercial events atm (all I can get) and been playing shitty pop acapellas over thunder clap just so I can get away with playing it

they should be fine... i can be in the middle of the most minimal deep set, but thunder clap absolutly gets the crowd going... i believe its the insanly chilled/spooky build!!! Brilliant song!

Haha no problem. There's like 5 versions, but that is most definitely the best one. I'm not a fan of deep, but when that bass comes in, it's just euphoric.

i know this could be horribly wrong... but does deep house just have more of a bassline than tech house ?

thanks for the help guys!
ive just started playing a bit of tech house in the last few weeks, really enjoying it..
https://soundcloud.com/nathan-ernst-...o-mix-march-13
theres the mix i sent through to the promoter and he said he enjoyed it, but asked if i can play him more of a deep house set next weekend.. so im really unsure haha sorry i dont have more info!
im trying to find the stuff with more bounce and vibe than the soulful chilled out deep house thats all over beatport if that makes sense :s hopefully ill get my head around all the sub genres pretty soon.. coming from playing commercial bangas at parties this is a big step for me!
