Avicii's growth > From Timberman to Avicii
Posted on: 09.05.2013 by Rodolfo Oriol

Avicii posted a thread on a swedish music production community in 2006- but got no answers. Later on he posted another thread with his track "Brain" and got atleast some answers. I downloaded his track "brain" and got to hear one of his very first track. It's amazing to hear this and his tracks now. It's very fun too see evolution, comparing his past tracks to present time. He had very hard time figuring out how compression worked. He actually posted on the community that he worked days to figure out how compression and eq:ing worked.

From what I see from his posts he had very good contacts, people who worked at universal and blogs.

Toughts?

I don't personally like Avicii's music but I would take half of his popularity and fortune if it was offered. He makes shit loads of cash from playing festivals and making popular tunes. Meanwhile i'm sitting here watching AFL and eating HobNobs with a brew!
It's the jealous kids with bad jobs, few shows and absolutely zero chance of ever making it that moan man, I find them both hilarious and pathetic. Wish I had the energy and time to cry so much about successful artists.

I disagree with the argument that good taste is subjective. If it is so, then it would be true in all aspects of life. If there's no universal good or bad, then nothing really is anything. If the argument was true, one could say that trainwrecks in beatmatching sounded good.

I believe "mainstream" at the moment is great. When you look at the UK top 40 there is such a multitude of genres and crossovers. Just look at the top 3. Daft Punk, Rudimental and Macklemore - Ryan Lewis. 3 different genres and 3 great songs.

As far as avicii goes, he has done great, and comes across as a nice guy. Serious props to him. Play nice everybody

Some of the replies in this topic are incredible - never did I know you could base your interests in life on how popular something is with other people or if they are labelled a certain way. Talk about trying too hard.

What a f**king sad way to live.

Looks like the 2nd grade comprehension skills belong to you. Your just a community troll.

All that matters is that every DJ you hate on is bigger and better than you and your hate is just another drop of nothingness in their lives. You sound like a middle schooler hating on TRL and claiming your favorite emo band is better than what's on TV. Such an immature point of view. Once you accept all kinds of music, you're life will be so much better. And you might be a happier person. I actually feel bad for people like you. Your life must be so grey and sad with all the hate you spew.

People can like and dance to what they want. I like techno that doesn't mean that i go up to my friends that like dubstep and commercial stuff and say the stuff they like is shit. That's just rude and pointless.

Loverocket dance music is great because there is so many different genres that people can enjoy let people like whatever the fuck they want and shutup.

Zedd's melodic tracks shine because he's a pianist and he, for one, knows how to compose a song properly.
