God I love festivals. Playing few in uk this summer, namely Kendal Calling as I am their resident/in-house DJ.

Not going to Glastonbury this year for the first time in a run of 14 (20 in total) which is quite upsetting as it is mine and my fiances favourite place ON EARTH in fact I proposed at Glastonbury 2011, but we get married this saturday so we had to forgo Glasto this year.
Our wedding is Glastonbury themed
Congrats on the wedding. Sounds like it's gonna be a fun time.

I just went to a wedding and the groom asked me to bring my laptop. After midevening when the old folks and kids went to bed at the hotel, the house they rented for the wedding turned into a evening club and I had one of the best sets of my life. Packed floor till 5am.

Hehe. I'm assuming you're referring to EDC. For those unaware:

Yeah, since it moved to Temple Newsham it doesn't happen much these days but back when it was in Bramham Park you were pretty much guaranteed unrest on Sunday. The riots in 2002 were pretty crazy; chilling out at camp with police choppers flying overhead was quite surreal. Heard that 2005 was even worse with riot cops having to be bought in.

Still rather go Leeds than Reading though. Fuck Reading.

@OP You'll have a great time, remember to talk to randoms, you'll meet some awesome people. Make sure you've got enough money to get yourself essentials or in case of emergency. You might believe you can save some cash by bringing all the stuff you need with you but trust, shit gets broken/lost/eaten by bears... you will be glad to have some safety money. Final thought, prepare yourself (mentally) for the toilets/long drops. They are not pleasant.

Trust me, I am a festival expert.

Congrats Karlos!

I actually had a Glasto ticket but gave it up - one I didn't fancy it this year because of the lineup - and two, I believe I may enjoy it more when I'm a little older. Next year maybe.

Decent footwear, forget wellies if it's wet, too sloppy a fit.

For Glastonbury 2011, I bought some 30 quid Karrimor walking boots, very comfortable, tight fit, warm and dry, best thing ever given the weather we had until Saturday afternoon. Loads of people were losing their wellies in the mud.

Resurrecting them again for this year's Glastonbury, can't wait Fortunately, living only a few miles away from Pilton, the option to go home and have a hot shower etc is there if asolutely necessary.

the cheap mobile/cell is a great call but I kind of enjoy the getting lost for a couple of days part. Hard to do with your mum and all your mates ringing to see where you are : "yes mum i am fine, no mum i wont drop loads of acid and join a travelling circus, honestly!"
