Audio 6 Not Connected... it's plugged in and lights are flashing!!!
Posted on: 27.07.2012 by Flora Kascak
Hello Chaps,
I have Traktor 6, but I also have a Denon DN-X1600 mixer, so I don't usually need the Audio 6 that it came with.

I have a gig in 2 weeks, my 1st gig for 3 years and I need to use Traktor, problem is as follows...

I installed the latest driver, then I plugged in the Audio 6 (the Audio 6 lights up and the green USB light starts to flash), as soon as I do this, I get a message in my System Tray on Windows saying, "Installing Device Driver" or something like this, every time it fails to install properly (but I figure that this doesn't matter because I have manually installed the driver), then I open up the Audio 6 Control Panel and it says...

"No Traktor Audio 6 Found Make Sure That The Interface Is Plugged In"

So, I tried various things with the driver and also swapping USB ports but still it makes no difference. I even tried to open up Traktor which works brilliantly with my Denon Mixer, but it won't recognise the Audio 6, so I can't use it.

I have also posted the same thread on the NI website, but it's not often that anyone on there can or wants to help. If anyone here knows what to do, or can offer me some advice I would be eternally grateful.

Cheers, Dan.

I've been running 7 x64 on my laptop for over a year with no such issues (and pretty much no issues in general). The only caveat is that I have an A8. I recently installed the most recent A4/6/10 drivers just in case, that went without a hitch but I didn't get to plug in one of those interfaces yet.
I'm still going at it with the laptop, and I've gone down the route of using the "Add New Device Wizard", but as of yet I've got as far as it installing the Audio 6 then it crashes and gives me the old "Blue Screen" salute!!!
Ah, if it BSOD'd while plugging in the A6 it would be more interesting, but now that you've had one BSOD you can run it through WinDbg to sort of figure out what part crashed and whether it's actually the A6 driver holding you back.
I've run system restore to last week before I tried all this, and I'm going to try a fresh.
I used to run vista x86, a well tweaked and cared for install, but eventually I managed to hose it and I just couldn't get either of my X1s to work anymore, no matter how I tried to clean the driver. So either you have a dodgy port or there is an incompatibility of some sort. But maybe a fresh install would behave properly.

You could try upgrading your chipset drivers straight from intel or amd (whatever chipset you have)...

This happened to me and I was looking at all of your posts trying to find the reason mine wouldn't work and I noticed that one of the usb pins connected to the audio 6 was pushed in and not hitting the proper connection on the usb cable. The device light would still blink but it wouldn't connect. I've been trying to pull the pin back to it's original location but can't get it there ugggh! Might check this and see if it is close to the same problem...

No joy, can't even get the updater to recognise it, I've tried old and new drivers, countless re-boots still no joy!!!

The device upater won't even recognise the Audio 6...

Just going to try and remove the drivers, then I'm going to try and get it to talk with the device updater.

Cheers for all your help mate!!!

I've tried the old driver too, maybe I'll give it one last shot.

I've got a gig in a couple of weeks and I really want to get it working, I could rip my setup apart and take my DN-X1600 to do the gig but that makes having the Audio 6 pointless and I've paid the money for a system that is supposed to work and give me the freedom to do gigs with a minimum amount of hassle.

Gonna try the old driver now.

It's still not working, I've tried re-installing the driver and using different cables, it just wont have it!!!

Could it be that the Sound Card is just faulty???

If it's not the driver, it could be the cable and/or port (I had issues with two A8's in the same evening : mine would give me the flashing icon with a cable we'd used earlier, then worked perfectly with my usual cable. A friend's A8 that was also there was flashing regardless of the cable...
(yes I wrote A8 but this is similar with the other interfaces)
I'll give this a whirl with the wire from my DN-X1600 because I know that works, this is the 1st time I've used the wire from the box... I'll let you know how I get on!!!

Hopefully I got the paths correct. If it doesn't work, try it again but this time, during that last step, if there are any folders inside of Driver (i.e. x86, x64, 32, 64), try those as well.
Cheers for all your help man, but I tried that earlier when re-installing the driver, I'm not having much luck with it to be fair!!!

Although I've had a much bigger response on here than on the NI website!!!
