Hey people,

Don't know if this has been covered elsewhere. Basically I'm wanting to order about

Update on this.

So rang up DV today wanting to just order the monitor speakers, cables and 2 decksaver covers. They asked why I was no longer ordering the CDJ and DJM and I said I have seen it on a French site for cheaper + I can get cashback. They matched the site price and took off the cashback which was 4%. Saved

Call around. For a 4k sale, almost any brick and mortar store will do something to help out and should be willing to throw in their house-brand cables for free. Retail isn't about margins, it's about turnover!
I realise between the US/Europe and Australia stuff can be a bit different but for people in Aus...

I work for a consumer electronics distributor who supplies to a major major major australian electronics/cd/everything retailer. I can tell you for a fact they're taking at least triple that.. at a minimum.

So yeah, if you're in Australia. Haggle haggle haggle. They have lots of room. Our retail/wholesale etc markups are astronomical compared to the US.

That's a hell of a discount. Good ish.

Pro Audio Star and AGIProDJ if you're looking to order a bunch of stuff for a considerable price. Sweetwater doesn't have the best prices, but to me, no one beats them when it comes to all the other intangibles (making sure ish was ordered n processed correctly, actually having knowledgable people, communication, free fast shipping, they ship every order w/ a bunch of candy )

They got kangaroos and koalas. And the GBR.

I'd take all that for some slightly inflated prices :| I absolutely loved Australia when I visited. Everyone's so nice and happy too.

The whole electronics market is shit in the UK.

I believe if you compared the US cost price and converted it, you would find it we are paying more in the UK

My discount with DV247 was by price matching, come to believe of it.

I bought from them for their 4 year guarantee as well

DV was the people I phoned

woodbrass.com are the french company. I will give em a call tomorrow and ask them about warranty and where they would have me send it to if it became faulty. They offer 3 years as well. DV offer 4. You are right that would have a lot to do with it. So if I like what I hear from them then I can't say no.

So bit of a update on this. One store, the store that I order all my gear from can't move on Pioneer gear at all really. The monitors that I wanted they were able to price match, they were also able to bring the price of the decksavers down although I believe I have actually found them lower still elsewhere. But the total was around

This.

There is ALWAYS wiggle room. If there is not, go somewhere else - where there will ALWAYS be wiggle room...

I was able to haggle with a local store and managed to get 2x CDJ-2000 NXS for $1500.00 each (tax included) and the DJM-900 NXS for $1400.00 (tax included).

There is definite wiggle room. My buddy is a pioneer rep and basically told me to go in and tell them what you want to pay with tax, and leave if they won't do it. He said he has seen some stores sell the units at cost in order to get the customer to do some repeat purchasing.

When I was buying guitar gear, everyone told me to bargain no matter what. You could usually get a hardshell case and maybe 100 bucks taken down if you were buying a guitar >1000 dollars. Less than 1k usually the case and some picks/cables were thrown in.

Not many people know you should bargain when you're at GC just because it's a chain store. That said, you really gotta be a sly bargainer since it's not gonna be the same bargaining you do at the flea market.

Sweetwater cares even less.
Must be your face, manners or attitude which are putting people off, as I have had great discount on large priced orders when going to music stores.

You have to do your homework, get different figures from rivals and then go to a store and make them believe you are walking out with that stack of cash in your pocket. They won't allow it. Call their bluff.

Additionally, last thing on a Saturday was when the place I used to work at could be persuaded to go that bit lower, since we had targets for the week and were in competition with our sister stores to try and beat their takings for the week.

Saturday was the end of the weeks figures, so someone walking in an hour before we closed with a largish sale was unlikely to be shown the door.

Unfortunately where I live it's not possible to go into a music store that sells DJ gear. There isn't even a place nearby. I would have to go Bristol/London area which is a 4 hour drive and I would probably loose any money I saved on petrol there and back. I was going to go to Digital Village in Bristol but they closed that down a few weeks ago.

Going to ask around online today. Will be sure to let you all know of my experience.

Make as large of orders as possible so the salesperson has the most margin to play with. I am about to spend about $3,500 CAD on some gear and was able to find ALL of it on one web-store and a 5 minute web chat later and I got it 10% off AND free shipping.

Walk into any bricks and Mortar shop with 4k to spend and you'll be treated like royalty and given a considerable discount.

Also go in on a Monday morning first thing - sales people love starting the week on a high

but it's not the same as someone going to a store and buying gear for 30 workstations for a school or something
That kinda thing rarely happens daily in music stores and generally only after weeks/months of negotiations and lots of hmmmm, hawwwww, hmmmm

Also, $6000+ USD is a shit ton of money.
