Xone: DB4- the official unofficial thread
Xone: DB4- the official unofficial thread Posted on: 18.10.2011 by Romelia Stankard (former thread title Xone: DB4- convince me not to sell off my possessions and drain my bank account)I mean it's just a mixer, nothing I should sell my S4 and some other expensive possessions for and drain my bank account completely for... right? I am having a hard time with this decision. I know it won't make me a better DJ, yet it gives me the urge to make irrational spending decisions. Please talk me out of it. | |

I got them to offer 2199, it's kind of annoying but still a good price and $100 doesn't mean too much in the scheme of dropping 2k. They only offered 2199 when it was clear I was about to hang up and after being put on hold to talk to whoever was in charge a few times. |
Branden Wentler 01.11.2011 | grats man. I envy you guys. Where did you purchase and what is the damage report? |
Romelia Stankard 02.11.2011 | Ordered it |
May Artman 27.10.2011 | I'm believeing about getting a DB9. This is obviously relevant. |

Branden Wentler 21.10.2011 | Daydreaming about the db4 during my work hours.... Don't know what to do with my 92 though. I'd hate to just leave it to gather dust and I just bought an iPad dammit... I believe selling the 92 is an option but I left the original box in the States. xtac you better grab that demo unit because I'm getting antsy on that deal |
Hipolito Scionti 21.10.2011 | What percentage of your desire for the DB4 is based on wanting to show it off on this/other community
s and what percentage is wanting it for yourself? Why don't you get it if you promise yourself not to show it here on this community . Then you'll know you haven't got it just to show off, which frankly is a waste of money I bet you a DB4 you post it straight onto the show your set up thread. You may even demand they set up a show your set up community in case the comments get lost too quickly... Don't let random people in the world posting online cloud your believeing. PS. Can't wait to see your DB4 set up |

Odis Stirewalt 20.10.2011 | isn't the db4 a fully digital mixer? so the eq's are also "software" like the features on all other dvs (=getting the midi-value from the encoder and calculate the soundchanges fully digital in the dsp's?) or i'm an uninformed idiot? ;D is comparing the analog 92 features with the digital db4 features really reasonable? |

May Artman 19.10.2011 | I prefer the DB4 EQing over the 92 (or anything else, for that matter). The slope on iso mode is a great fit for me and I love having the ability to isolate specific sounds with filter mode. As for comparing software EQing... There is no comparison. Listened to some old mixes that I did purely on software recently and the difference was much more noticeable than I had expected. EQing with the DB4 is very smooth and the myriad of filter-stacking choices makes it easy to find a style that works for you. As I've said before, its the best mixer I've ever owned, but if you have no intention of using the massive feature set you'd be better served with a 92 and $2000 to spare. |
Shala Busso 19.10.2011 | Yes buy it, but only so you can add it into your signature |

Torie Hollobaugh 19.10.2011 | Hey, are there any Xone:92 owners/lovers in this thread? I'm a 4-band addict and would find it extremely hard to part with my beloved 92. But the DB4 is just so awesome. I spent some time time on it, but not nearly enough to get a proper feel for the EQ. I know it's a bit like apples & pears, but how does the DB4's EQ compare to the 92's? I have a spare 2D collecting dust, and if I sold my 92 also I would have enough money for a DB4. But selling my 92 would take a serious amount of convincing, it's like selling a 1200. It's gonna be all down to the EQ section. |

I remember when I lusted over the Xone: 4D and finally got it and it was epic. The 4D was an imperfect machine though and the MIDI interface was outdated, the DB4 would be flawless if it were just scratch certified. Tatum Ansaldo 19.10.2011 | Don't even talk to me about RGAS. I want a DB4 so much, but there's no way I could afford it without selling a kidney. |

All the new hype will start firing up shortly about the "next thing" you may want to get that. Wait til after Christmas, it's just about only 2 months away, and then you can listen to all the pre-NAMM hype about the new Pioneer mixer that performs baptisms and serves you toast with butter and jam or whatever. After listening to all that hype you can then decide to buy it. If you do decide to buy it you will probably miss out on any bugs that may pop up in the first generation DB4's. Also, if you start putting money away now you'll have saved up enough money to survive the impending Euro crash and subsequent zombie apocalypse so buying a DB4 won't make you worry about your finances too much. |
