Biography
Shy FX is, without question, one of the original pioneers of the Jungle and Drum & Bass scenes; a true innovator for dance music across the globe. Shy’s career has spanned almost twenty years, cementing his name in both the underground and mainstream folk-law. A true stalwart, Shy continues to maintain his legendary status, whilst staying true to his art form, and staying relevant and at the forefront of eclectic dance music.
Having released countless classics over the year on London Records, EMI, Warners and his previous label ‘Ebony.’ including the massive 90’s anthems ‘Original Nuttah’ feat. UK Apache and ‘Bambaataa’, Shy has gone onto release over 350 releases including the chart smash ‘Shake Your Body’ (which reached No. 7 in the UK Charts), as well as ‘Don’t Wanna Know’, ‘Murderation’, ‘The Message’, ‘Everyday’ and ‘Feelings’, and his `Diary Of A Digital Soundboy’ album, to name but a few.
Shy has worked with a vast list of talented vocalists and artists including UK Apache, Donae’o, Kano, Kele Le Roc, Jenna G, T-Power, Elisabeth Troy, Top Cat, Diane Charlemagne, Doneo, Boy Better Know and more, and has remixed the likes of Tinie Tempah, Lily Allen, Plan B, Gyptian, Giggs, Kano, Heartless Crew, Shabba Ranks, Adam F, and DJ Krust….
Recently Shy has produced a number of original productions for Dizzee Rascal on his 2007 ‘Maths & English’ album, and his new ‘Tongue N Cheek’ LP. Dizzee is due to feature on Shy’s forthcoming record, due for release in 2010. Shy also produced ‘Butterfly’, the b-side to Dizzee’s no. 1 single ‘Bonkers’.
Shy launched his new Digital Soundboy Recording Company, and his vision for the label is simple: “I wanted to set up a new platform for good music, not necessarily genre specific. A good label doesn’t need to be about one artist or sound. For us its simply all about the music”.
Despite being a relatively young label, Digital Soundboy has found its niche easily. Shy’s leadership and A&R skills, and a tight-knit team of like-minded Soundboy soldiers, has ensured a quality over quantity ethos, steeped in flawless production, dance floor anthems and some of the finest guest vocal features.
From Shy FX & T Power’s ‘Diary Of A Digital Soundboy’ album and the massive single ‘Feelings’, the label has gone onto release a number of first class recordings spanning the world’s of d&b, dubstep, UK Funky and broken beat, from the likes of Breakage, Donaeo’, Redlight, Benga, Skream, MJ Cole, Benny Page, DJ Marky & SPY, DJ Fresh, Caspa, Attacca Pesante, Rusko, Visionary, Heist, Calibre, Lynx, System, Youngman, Vicious Circle, TC & Loxy.
Shy’s next album project is to be titled ‘Larger Than Life’ and promises to be his best yet, featuring a cast of amazing vocal talents and surprise guests. 2011 will see the original Soundboy step forward once again starting with his brand new single ‘Raver’ featuring Kano, Donae’o & Roses Gabor.
