    Biography

Mister Minsk (aka DJ Dino) started a successful DJ career in Scandinavia in the 1980’s. Around 1992 DJ Dino was one of the most renowned DJs in Europe. Twice winning the European DJ championships, and playing at iconic clubs such as The Hippodrome in London, Space Beach Club in Ibiza and the massive Club Arthur’s under the Geneva Mövenpick Hotel in Switzerland.

In 1992 he released a CD album under the artist name Dino, which was not a commercial success. In 1993 he released a dance version of Nirvanas: Smells like Teen Spirit, which was a hit in European dance clubs. The record was groundbreaking as the first release in the world to coin the term “DJ-Mixtools™”. Dino made a set of specially recorded excerpts and unique equalization cuts made for DJs to use in mix, scratch, and dub sessions. His expression has since gone mainstream in the DJ community. Today it is not uncommon for top DJs to create tracks on their music releases as DJ-mixtools, dubtools, djtools etc.

Dino was pioneering the usage of CDs by professional DJs and became one of a handful of worldwide DJs, sponsored by Denon® to promote the Denon® DN2000F - an exceptionally innovative product in the early 90’s. The ability to be able to pitch control digital recordings was unheard of before. Dino claims to be the first fully digital DJ, already burning his vinyl catalogue onto CDs in 1992, before CD burners were commercially available as consumer electronics.

In 1994 he moved to Estonia, and started a field of successful businesses and became a co-owner of the prestigious Club Hollywood in Tallinn. Dino performed at the club in the first year, but eventually recruited new DJs from a pool of young Estonian talents, and helped to build the great Estonian DJ scene. Estonian National TV (ETV) made a documentary about Dino “sowing the seeds for the future Estonian DJ scene” in 1995, which emerged in Dino becoming a co-host on the national TV show: Club TV.

In 1996 Dino put his DJ career on hold; as his commercial businesses suddenly started to take off, and required that he invested more time to executive manage them. His plan was to return to music within a few years - but as his companies expanded and grew into successful corporations within the fields of telecommunication and real estate - it nearly took two decades to build a solid foundation for him to let the companies manage themselves.

Dino took the artist name Mister Minsk, because, in his absence from the DJ scene a multitude of new DJ’s had started using the name DJ Dino, and therefore he needed a new unique name. Being a frequent resident in Minsk, and loving the city, he opted for the name Mister Minsk.
