Biography
Ed Mant started out his love for all things trance and uplifting in 1995 when he used to frequent the late Crystal Rooms in Hereford for Naughty but Nice. From then on he was always looking to find nights that offering the same blend uplifting and energetic music. Ed started DJing in 1998 and quickly began to get sets and house parties in and around where he lived. From there he and some friends formed the Rehab Dj's and 6 of them began to run regular nights at local venues and the students union. After a year of gigging the Rehab DJ's landed a Friday night radio show on local radio which saw them bring in a number of local DJ's who went on to big name names starts. Notably Cally and Juice, founder of the Bionic event held in Cardiff. Soon after this the Rehab DJ's became the hosts of the second room at the Bionic nights playing a blend of tech house, house and techno. Whilst this was going Ed was continuing to learn his production trade and in 2003 had his first remixes released on Voodoo Vinyl. Following on from this Ed had a number of his own productions signed and released on Wave Records. Following on from a difficult situation with a record label Ed decided to take a break from sending his tracks out, instead choosing to continue producing them and hoping to perfect his productions. Now Ed has decided that it's time to start to share some of these productions with others and resend them out to labels with a view to getting them signed. Within weeks of starting to do this Ed had a remix released on Nu Communicate recordings under the alias Merc. Now he is focussed on finishing his own tracks and getting them out there. Ed's style vary from light and melodic trance to energetic and uplifting trance, and even boarding on tech trance and hard trance. He produces under various names dependant on his style of music. Main production names include Delta 33, MTT and Merc. He says, "When I'm producing my music I don't set out with a certain type of track in mind. I spend a while just seeing where it takes me. My mood does massively impact the style of what I write which is why it can be anything from electro trance to dirty and dark driving hard trance. It depends on how I feel at the time and whether I want to bop slowly away in my studio chair or get right into it and really hammer it out.
