Biography

He commenced his musical journey at the age of 5, immersing himself in the art of guitar playing within the enchanting confines of Maastricht, The Netherlands. As his childhood unfolded, he expanded his musical repertoire to include drumming, igniting a profound passion for the world of music. After numerous years dedicated to performing within various bands, predominantly exploring the realms of Heavy Metal, Rock, and Blues, he encountered the challenge of maintaining cohesive musical partnerships. This juncture prompted him to adopt a distinctive artistic approach. His deep-seated affection for Techno music blossomed in the early 1990s, serving as a wellspring of inspiration. In 1996, he ventured into the realm of DJing, embarking on a transformative journey that led him to participate in a DJ competition at the now-defunct Independent Club Backstage in Maastricht, Netherlands—a competition he emerged victorious from. It was at this moment that he unequivocally recognized his true calling as an artist. Under the moniker "THEMADDEEJAY," he commenced his journey as a performer and began crafting his own tracks, primarily within the Techno and Hard Techno genres—a creative endeavor he has ardently pursued for the past 27 years. Throughout the challenges posed by the pandemic, he found himself blessed with an abundance of time, which he judiciously invested in honing and elevating his skills as a producer. The fruits of his labor are undeniably evident, bearing testament to his unwavering dedication to his craft. His musical creations have graced the catalogues of esteemed record labels, including Bass Controllism Records, Hot Peppers Raw, LETS Techno Records, McCarty Records, and his very own imprint, MadMinds Records, among others.
