    Biography

Bruce Bailey…Detroit’s Best Kept Secret! Bruce Bailey is one of the original greats in a long list of Detroit DJ Royalty. While collecting vinyl since his youth, Bailey honed his craft during the city’s gritty techno emergence in the 80’s. His roots are dug deeply in the city’s local music scene as he headlines an endless array of events for Detroit’s esteemed Tandem Entertainment Company, which Bailey co-founded. Bailey has a chameleon-like style and can be heard playing a great mixture of sultry vocals combined with some seriously energetic big room hits! When asked ‘how do you describe your performance style?’ Bailey simply states: “When you have multiple weekly residencies it enables you to build a unique alliance with your following. I play a very danceable vibe, taking the dance floor in countless directions, breaking tons of new releases all while giving the people exactly what they wanna hear”. A die-hard Detroiter, Bruce Bailey still resides in Detroit, Michigan. In 2013 alone he has been identified in countless publications as “one of the city’s Top Electronic DJs” including the industry giant – Ebony Magazine! One year earlier Bailey was selected to receive “The Entertainer of The Year Award” by the distinguished Native Detroiter Magazine. Not too shabby for one of few local DJs that have the opportunity to play weekly to hundreds even thousands of fans. In the midst of constant performances, Bailey also served as lead promoter for some of the biggest house music weeklies in the city’s history. For decades iconic venues such as Cheeks, Club 246 & Lola’s all housed events that featured Bailey’s uncanny talent. Having held the longest running residency in Detroit history at Club 246, Bailey has gone on to hold two dynamic residencies at L!V Resto Lounge (Thursdays) and at the Internationally renowned TV Lounge (Fridays), which is also home to the infamous Fabulous First Friday event series! These residencies not only house Bailey but also serve as a melting pot for spot performances by several International jocks. Fast forward to New Years Eve ’13 – DJ Bruce Bailey rocked a crowd of 12,000+ at downtown Detroit’s Biggest Annual Indoor/Outdoor Event “THE D-DROP” held collectively on the grounds of Campus Martius Park, Compuware & Hard Rock Cafe. “Bailey takes it all in stride for this is nothing new for the jock that regularly spins all Detroit’s biggest events” Tom T. (events co-DJ). TV Lounge Owner, Tree Graves, also had this to say about the lengendary DJ: “When you think of music in Detroit, especially anything pertaining to house music, everything begins with one name – Bruce Bailey”. Bruce Bailey has shared the stage with some of the world’s elite artists including: Derrick May, Alton Miller, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, Delano Smith, Moodyman, Karizma, Chuck Daniels, Anane Vega, Josh Milan, Mr. V, Peven Everett, The Chosen Few DJs (Chicago), Rick Wilhite, and Terrence Parker, just to name a few! Bailey has since represented the city Internationally having established an annual 3-City Tour in Asia – headlining monstrous events in Beijing, Shanghai & Hong Kong. Bailey’s future goals include making stops in thriving places like London, Amsterdam, Japan and Germany! Bruce Bailey currently doubles as studio-head working on his first album to be released on MixMode Recordings. “Music is what drives me and keeps my fire burning. Making people dance is an art form and every time I perform I try to create a musical masterpiece on the dance floor,” says the mild mannered artist. When asked why he is a DJ slash event promoter he had this to say: “Well, if you’re solely a DJ you have to wait for the phone to ring to perform publicly – I always hated that. I went to college and have a business degree so I know how to relate to venues and initiate event deals. It also helped that I went to the largest high school (Cass Tech) in Detroit. The enormous quantity of lifelong friends I made in school really helped me build a truly loyal fan base which always keeps me extremely relevant in my hometown”. 2013 Performance Highlights (Abroad & Local) ***International Appearances Migas – Beijing, China DDT – Shanghai, China Lakeview Festival – Canada ***United States Shows Movement Festival – Made in Detroit Stage NYE Hard Rock Cafe – Detroit, MI Gucci Store – (Somerset Mall), Troy, MI Apache Cafe – Atlanta, GA Avis Ford Car Dealership – Southfield, MI Detroit Medical Center Soirée – Detroit, Mi Bailey has also played numerous events in New York, San Francisco, Atlanta and posh local venues that include: The Infinity Yacht, The DIA, African American Museum, The Historic Museum, Sinbad’s, The Renaissance Club, The Detroit Zoo, Andiamos (Renaissance Center), Westin Book Cadillac Hotel, The Music Hall, Cobo Hall, Coach Insignia amongst others.
