Biography
DJ Rugrat blitzed into the music scene over a decade ago and has since gone from strength to strength, now playing across the world at some of the biggest and most prestigious venues. Renowned for his quirky cut ups, cross genre combinations and his enthusiasm for the mix, Rugrat has become a household name with the 90s generation, many of whom have grown up following this baby-faced talent. He has played alongside some of the UK’s finest acts including Jay Sean, Chipmunk, Taio Cruz, Wiley, Kano, and Mr. Hudson . His diversity and inherent ability is highlighted by names such as Babyshambles, Hard-Fi, Cut up Boys, Guru Josh Project, Kelly Rowland, Blackstreet, and Soulja Boy being added to an ever-growing list. Rugrat has heightened his popularity and gained phenomenal recognition by DJing at the pre-concert parties of some of the world’s biggest artists, including global icons Usher, Neyo and Trey Songz. Far from being limited to just the UK music scene, Rugrat is increasing his skill-set by being diverse and appreciated enough to play all over the world. He won best newcomer DJ at the De Jam Festival in Antigua in 2009 and hit the international circuit in 2010, making a huge impact in Germany at Mash Box, as well as Ibiza and India. Winning the ‘2006 KISS 100 DJ’ competition for the UK’s best up and coming DJ propelled his career to new heights, letting the wider population know about this young talent. Rugrat has recently gone on to be a finalist in the ‘King Of The Decks’ competition in 2010, and won the B4U DJ Championship in December 2011 . This publicity has led him to perform on national radio stations such as the BBC (including 1xtrta, Mic Check show/Dj Kayper’s V.I.P mix/The Bobby Friction show). Far from being just a hidden face behind the decks, Rugrat has taken to hosting numerous festivals including Astonbury, Birmingham’s largest festival, as well as the main stage at Love Music Hate Racism festival for the past three years. Notting Hill Carnival is a great honour for any artist and Rugrat has been privileged enough to be a part of Europe’s biggest carnival scene this past year. Rugrat has been prolific in his advancement of the ‘Musical Movement’, dropping countless mix CD’s that have given the modern party-goer, the classic clubber and the retro raver an essential, diverse and eclectic mix, quintessential to his signature style.
