Recording my Dj set.... Hey there! I am using a pair of Cdj 2000 nexus and a Traktor Z2. Could I please get some detail on how I can record my sets using tractor Pro 2 or any other way? Some help would be really kind. |

You loose ALL functionality when you mix externally with the Z2. It becomes nothing more than a standard 2-channel mixer. I just mentioned the HID mode because I figured the reason you thought he would be mixing externally is because you assumed he would be using timecode (which he would still have to mix internally to use btw). |

False. Listen it's a cool idea and you can defend it all you want, I mean people have been recording that way for awhile, but the fact of the matter is that not all computers have a Line-In option, in fact majority don't. Mic-In only is typically what you see, and you can still record that way, but even if you tweak with the recording options in Audacity, best case scenario you still can't get it to sound good. Even with a Line-In option, recording in Audacity cant compare to the ease of just Recording in Traktor, not to mention less stress on your computer.

Best case scenarios, if you are mixer is set up to mix internally in Traktor then it's almost as easy as just pressing record, but you are most likely mixing externally and in that case I believe you can just plug a set of RCA's into your master out and patch that into an open line in on the mixer and set up the internal recorder properly for the channel input you plugged into.

If you have the Global panel at the top shown (I believe it shows it by default in the advanced view) you should see a picture of a cassette tape on the right. Click that, then click record and viola! You can look in the settings to see where your recordings are saved and customize the directory. In windows it saves it to MyMusic/Traktor/Recordings by default I believe. |

Monroe Vandeslunt 05.10.2013 | You can mix internally and use timecode btw... before I had an external mixer that's all I ever did, A6, keyboard and 2 turntables lol |
Addie Engbrecht 04.10.2013 | Wow really? Thanks for explaining. I never knew and wouldn't dream that you would lose all functions of the mixer when mixing externally. That's a huge drawback to me. |

get this, plug it into your computer and record,
i recommend audacity (btw, you'll probably need a very low output if you plug straight into the computer) |

Wanita Androsky 04.10.2013 | The RCA to 8mm comes from the mixer and goes into the mic jack of the recording computer. |

Tiara Triolo 04.10.2013 | thanks for the info |
Libbie Orion 04.10.2013 | traktor has a RECORD feature
it records in WAV format
then when you are done, you can load that recorded file into iTunes
and tell it to convert it to an mp3.
is that what you were asking about? |
