Traktor Won't Play M4A Apple Lossless Files
Traktor Won't Play M4A Apple Lossless Files Posted on: 19.02.2012 by Lita Sciamanna I decided to convert some of my WAV files within iTunes to Apple Loss-less mainly for space saving but also fed up of the WAVs not holding metadata like BPM & artwork etc. Anyway after converting these within iTunes they play fine within iTunes but Traktor won't. Traktor sees the files and its metadata but the red bar flashes at the bottom saying could not be played due to missing or corrupt file. I checked http://www.native-instruments.com/fo...ad.php?t=82347 and he seems to have a similar issue though he is using an external drive and mine is all from an internal drive. Please help As I'd like to retain quality where I can | |

Your other problem could possibly be bad beat-gridding. There are two different modes of sync that you can play with, One is Temposync (Which is the default), that only matches the tempo, but allows you to move in and out of phase by nudging, and Beatsync which keeps both BPM and Phase Locked together. Juliette Dicostanzo 17.10.2013 | Not sure if this is the right thread to post this in, since it seems like most people here are using MAC. I just bought a new PC and migrated my itunes library from the old machine to the new one. Most of the files are m4a and won't play. I'm running Traktor 2.6.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Arvilla Rosoff 10.01.2013 | About the itunes library - Only partly! I tried this to make sure it wasnt just because of the history. i still have sooooo many songs that wont play and this is what I dont understand I thought I was doing this with the master and sync. i need to spend some more time I guess looking through all the options I meant, if I am using vinyl, as in the old school way of hands on, I would normally just release the vinyl and go, I dont see how then that works with cue points I have set on the Mac - maybe just me being stupid, as I said, not spent much time on any of the functions, I basically just used it before to carry on vinyl beat matching but from my itunes library Might have to look into Trakotr Pro then, not sure now though.......... I guess I would just like to be shown properly how to use ANY of these softwares properly - am a learning by doing person rather than just reading manuals - my error I guess! Thanks for your advice! |

Arvilla Rosoff 10.01.2013 | HI folders havent moved as I can play some but not all - that is what I dont really understand. If I go into iTunes as a cross check all songs play which would highlight the libraries havent changed Beatsync - I only see the SYNC button on my traktor scratch - maybe because this is the basic and now older version. Just doesnt line up all the tracks automatically - maybe because the ranges between the two songs are too far out making it impossible? Maybe that is why the SYNC button is then only half marked - I have no idea tbh..... Just seems a little annoying to use. originally I was using this with the vinyl provided, basically to continue vinyl mixing but with my itunes etc - am gutted that now doesnt work either Regarding CUES - I know using the Mac I can save cues and always restart from that point - I assume there would be no way to do this if I went back to using vinyl as I would imagine there is no way for the vinyl to know that is the point to start automatically? Am now tempted to get a controller to make life easier, but am now believeing ditch traktor and try something else, something that will actually play ALL my library!! Aporeciate any further tips though! |

Lita Sciamanna 08.01.2013 | Most of mine seem to play fine now - I'm sure you are running the latest versions of software but worth a check. |
Arvilla Rosoff 08.01.2013 | Just started using traktor again after a 2 year break. No idea why, but files i was playing back then are coming up with this warning? Any ideas why? Updates needed? Re-install? Scrap and buy serato? Any ideas - wanted to get back into this but if the software aint working i reckon i am giving up!!!!! |
Lita Sciamanna 02.03.2012 | I found that Traktor on has an issue with a few of my lossless files, for the moment I'm just using MP3 versions. Not ideal but hopefully NI will fix in the next update |
Monroe Vandeslunt 02.03.2012 | Having the same problem. I have a bunch of flac files, all which play in traktor, I decided to convert them to ALAC using XLD. Some now won't open in traktor... they open just fine in serato itch (which is why I am converting them!) So this is definitely a traktor issue. In fact I have a really really good example. Drum and bass tune, Colorful ft. Profit by Genetic Bros, released FREE on Artist Recordings. You can download for free on breakbeat.co.uk It downloads as a wav, convert that to alac, using itunes, XLD or whatever. Traktor won't play. Plays fine in iTunes, plays fine in serato itch. |
Lita Sciamanna 20.02.2012 | Running lion but really don't wanna be rolling back It converted a few more and it seems it's playing some but not all |
Anisa Fourte 20.02.2012 | What version of OSX are you running? I had this same problem running Lion and ended up downgrading back to Snow Leopard because of it. NI will tell you to do a full uninstall of Traktor and reinstall it. |
Marshall Aby 19.02.2012 | If you're mac I don't believe that is the problem. Have you tried dragging one of these lossless files directly from the OSX explorer onto a Traktor deck? Does it load? |
Lita Sciamanna 19.02.2012 | Sorry what I meant was both are up to date already but I never realized before that I have Quicktime AND Quicktime 7 installed on my mac and in fact they are 2 separate apps. I wonder if Traktor needs to lok at one rather than the other to play M4A files and if so how can you do this. |
Marshall Aby 19.02.2012 | Latest version of Quicktime is 7 something |
Lita Sciamanna 20.02.2012 | Thanks for that Maxted but I have over 5000 tunes in iTunes so that's not really an option for me right now. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do now? I |
Melinda Shick 20.02.2012 | Flac, store my whole collection in flac...no problems with live, traktor (1.2 and 2.x) or any other software really, except itunes, but fuck itunes. |
Lita Sciamanna 20.02.2012 | - Software already up to date, does it matter if it's using Quicktime or Quicktime 7? - I'd normally use AIF but I get sent some promos in WAVs Any thing else I can try? really don't wanna go down to MP3 unless I have to |
Hipolito Scionti 19.02.2012 | AIFFs instead of WAVs ftw. |
Marshall Aby 19.02.2012 | Try updating Quicktime |
Lita Sciamanna 19.02.2012 | It's 2.1.2, only purchased a few weeks back |
nayit ruiz jaramillo 19.02.2012 | What exact version of Traktor are you using. That issue was fixed a long time ago. |
