Soundcloud follow spam?
Posted on: 29.05.2012 by Ardell Vanvooren
Hey,

I was just wondering about all these accounts with 2k followers. I get spammed everyday by people following and then removing the follow.

Is this some sort of bot? If so I don't understand what they could gain from following, and then removing the follow after a short period of time. The only thing I could come up with is that they want to abuse the email I receive saying "X has started follow you", "If you want to get updates on X tracks and comments you can start following X too".

Have I missed something here, or is it simply abuse from some random bot?

Electrode is so lame, he gets listens and downloads purely because he spams so hard and is literally everywhere on soundcloud. I mean his latest song "Feed the Fire" is so mediocre at best and it has 11000 plays and 1500 downloads. Makes me mad bro.

Haha seriously, this can only be a bot, this guy "Alexy Perec" has been following & unfollowing me every second day now for 10 days, either that or he is really persistent. Worst thing is that I have a couple of these.

I believe I figured out how they do this. They apparently pay money for promoters.

"We will Follow10000 genre targeted users on Soundcloud for You!", "* we will unfollow them too".

Nvm.. there are tons of bots as well that does this.....

Seriously how do you build up a brand on spam? If people spent more time on their music.........

I love that comments even more when I get them on dj-mixes telling me my track would fit perfectly on their friends' facebook page and might geht released on a compilation...

But honestly, what I find so much more annoying than those follow/unfollow guys is people who follow you and then start spamming you with "private tracks". I've stopped counting how many of those notifications I find in my inbox everyday.

Haha, yea love the feeeling reading "Great work dude!" and I am like wooo! He likes my track, but then at the end you see something "check out my track as well! it's pr0"... So you check it out and realize that he has made 2000 comments, all the same.

Wow, so I looked into how Soundcloud works and making a "bot" takes about...2 minutes... I don't understand why Soundcloud simply doesn't check any IP that does lets say 2k follows in 24 hours, and any account that does 200.

Edit: Anyway, problem fixed, removed the email notifications....

Heh, it seems like they go through so much effort. I mean 2000 effin follows, and I get a couple of these emails per day. All with the same pattern, a profile with 2000 follows, but of course no longer following me.

It bums me out as I like to follow people that follows me, but I don't want to support this abuse.

Basically they follow you in the hopes that you follow them back to increase their followers number. Probably not bots.
