Does China make fake Sony MDR headphones?

Just curious, because there's Sony MDR 7506 cans on ebay for $55 but I'd be lying if I didn't say that the fact that they're coming from "China" has me worried that they're fakes.

Well I was kinda stuck as importing is just not an option, they feel ok when broken in - and they are round rather than oval so takes a few months for them to adjust to the shape.

I like the HD's except they squeeze the %*$%& out of my head, and wanted something that is more over-the-ear.

I was wrong- the pads are way too small and don't even fit at all. They are flat and completely useless.

Ive bought those from ebay and were not fake, great deal.. they even had the correct box but was a japan domestic model and was all in japaneese. One way to tell is if the headphone jack when you pull off the adapter it should have green lines

Yes there is fake Sony MDR's

They sound shit, don't buy them, don't be scammed, only buy headphones from a reputable dealer.

I can't believe you put "beats" in the same sentence as Sennheiser HD25's...Don't even get me started on beats...

Also, you might not believe this, but I've had the low-end Sony MDR-V500's for my entire DJ career (14 years). No tape, just worn out leather.

$200 is a pretty big stretch...Unless you were first in line back in the mid 90's.

In a nutshell ..

YES!

There are knockoffs of 7506, Mdr-V6, v700's

You can generally tell by the packaging and their are vids on youtube on how to tell if you've been scammed.

There are knockoffs of

  • Sony
  • Pioneer
  • Technics
  • AKG
  • Beats
  • Shure

All the Above Headphones sound utterly crap with the exception of the powered beats studio, build quality is actually surprisingly good on all, but cosmetic imperfections on all of them.

However their knockoffs of
  • Beats in-ear
  • Sennehiser In-Ear

CAN be actually quite decent - but I would NEVER buy a pair online, I would always test before buying.

In an old post ages ago I'd decided to buy a pair of beats Tour knockoffs, basically because they sounded decent for my iPod and were ridiculously inexpensive and sounded better than a $10 set headphones from anyone else.

BUT I went through about 15 sets of them in a local electronics market until i found a set that did not have any defects, issues with the sound, all the correct accessories (earbud sizes, cable types etc).

I HAVE tried all the knockoffs of the sonys, pioneers, over ears and all were shitty+1.

A good advice: Don't buy the fake ones. You can believe you buy the same for a cheaper price, but the quality of fake headphones isn't good. So you won't regret it to buy real, good headphone's

5 years ago my then-housemate bought the same headphones for the same price - they are absolutely awful fakes; hard leather, bad sound quality and an overall feeling of piss-poor build. Steer clear.

one of the reasons I went with Sennheiser instead. i heard that they had been discontinued, and had heard the same thing from my local store since I wanted to try a pair as they still had them on their website. that lead me to believe that some other reputable suppliers who were selling them on their website might not be the genuine article, and so I decided not to bother and instead go with the HD25's, which I must say I do not regret one bit.

there is something on google/youtube on how to spot a genuine mdr700, but it's really only of much use if you can see the headphones in person before buying. i would perhaps look on gumtree or craigslist possibly, and pick up a decent pair used which you can see in person (assuming they do not live too far away) if you really want them that bad.

Yes they do and you can bet those are fake. They make fake sony 700s, 7506s, v6s, pioneer hdj-1000s. Hell there are even some really convincing fake HDJ-2000s with cast metal frames and hinges on ebay.
