Anyone esle made the switch back to 1.2.7?

Ok after so many problems with traktor scratch pro 2.5 i have made the switch back to tsp 1.2.7 untill my serato box gets here.

And i could not be happier its so much more stable,and frankly i never used the sample decks or the remix decks and much prefer having 4 decks,so i ain't missing anything.

So anyone else gone back?

There was a pretty complete looking version at Musikmesse recently. I'm assuming it'll be a late fall- early winter release.

I might be putting too much trust in them, but the VDJ folks are incredible programmers, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on the sound engine and assuming both that:

A, they are skilled enough to write a good engine, now that the community has demanded it.
B, that they are smart enough to realize that it's the last nail in the coffin for them if they don't.

Its been over a year since the mention of Virtual DJ 8. That is a very long time considering how often they used to update their product.

Not what I'm saying. That stuff works the way it claims to, but it's is done significantly better in Traktor. ESPECIALLY the sampler, cue points and Fx. They're all incredibly limited in serato: maximum of 5 cuepoints, 6 samples at a time with very limited features, and famously bad effects. And those are three of the most important parts of traktor, especially 2.5

14.06.2012		I never upgraded, not going to until I'm ready to switch up my gear. I kind of have the if it isn't broke don't fix it philosophy when it comes to computing. I used to be all about the near bleeding edge, but now wait it out to see the results of others, or not bother if the set up is running proper.
The day is coming though that I bother to start putting together the new rig, then I will be trapped into 2.5, by then I hope they will have it sorted.

14.06.2012		I like using just my X1 and a mixer and you can't do that with Serato. You need turntables/CDs.

With Traktor Scratch I feel I get the best of all worlds.

I actually feel I got 2.5 solid with my Lion Macbook Pro. I basically still only use 2 decks so i'm not really pushing it.

Serato is wicked, used it for years, but i'd miss being able to just use my X1 and mixer.

There was a pretty complete looking version at Musikmesse recently. I'm assuming it'll be a late fall- early winter release.

14.06.2012		5 cue points is plenty if you're doing a pretty traditional DJ thing. Personally I'm extremely limited by only having 8. Also I see Serato following traktor on the remix decks for itch, but I doubt they'll do much with scratch.

Serato really did an asinine thing by splitting their product lines.

14.06.2012		ill be deleting 2.5 and doing a refresh install of 1.2.7. In regard to SSL limited cue points, i believe 5 is more that enough, if you need to set cue points for loops you have have loops A, B, C, and so one. I also see SSL take hints from the remix decks and intergrating them into the sample decks in a hybrid mode a'la Bridge style.

14.06.2012		i didn't do a switch back, i just bought a TP 1.2.7 instead of TP2
but, the reasons are same: i dont need sample/remix decks and didn't want to find new bugs with each upgrade. NI won't see my money in a while...

14.06.2012		Every release since 1.x it seems there is more and more crap happening.. kinda makes you wonder about switching.
TSP 2.1x has been stable for me so far but I've had the weirdest glitch with my new MK2 control vinyl - ONLY during a gig. I really like the colored waveforms though, so I'm not sure about going back to 1.2.7 - that and I'd have to re-hotcue/grid all my flac tunes due to that bug that was only fixed in 2.something.
If I can get more MK1 vinyl I'm happy sticking with 2.1.2, but 2.5 and above ? Only when it becomes stable and if it actually fixes that mk2 timecode glitch. Don't use the sample decks, let alone the remix decks.

All I want outside of the virtual record box is hotcues and loops, which I could do in SSL with my X1 or Dicers, so I've kept myself interested in its latest developments and I'm trying to borrow a box+CVs to get familiar with it (just because I'm a geek).
However switching to ssl would mean forking over even more cash, converting all my flacs to something else and then having to put up with vinyl thru using a box, where I much prefer using the multicore cables (the interface end of the cables seems too short to use with SL boxes... damn i/o on opposite sides eh).

There were certain changes Native Instruments made with the later versions that I never liked. So I sticked with 1.27

14.06.2012		If you're going to spin control vinyl and just use your laptop as a record box, then Serato scratch live is definitely the way to go. If you want to do ANYTHING beyond that, unfortunately Traktor is still the best, despite being embarrassingly bad at programming, and now officially having the douchiest business model in the software music industry.

Although I have been looking into the new VDJ, oddly enough... It's starting to look like it might not be a joke any more. They have proven at this point to be FAR superior programmers compared to the asshats at NI, and their design is actually catching up quick. VDJ8 looks leaps and bounds beyond traktor as far as features go.

14.06.2012		I went back, just no point to have the remix decks without an F1 or until NI releases the midi commands to control the remix decks with any controller.

14.06.2012		Haven't went back but did consider it. I got 2.1 stable but then upgraded to Lion and it crapped out on me. But got it stable with Lion and 2.5..

Still contemplating the shift to Serato but i have questions about it before i do the move. Just need answers to be honest.

14.06.2012		yeah 2.1 was great but i don't no what it is,i just prefer 1.2.7 but i cant wait till i can switch to serato and tell NI to go do one.

14.06.2012		I went back till my s4 arrived, never had any problems with 2.1, still havent got 2.5.

Use serato more than i do traktor anyway..
