Technics Tonearm Complete Dis-assembly...
Technics Tonearm Complete Dis-assembly... Posted on: 08.06.2012 by Brunilda Kora Well. That was interesting. Not for the fainthearted. One of the pointed grub screws on the tonearm mount DOES NOT want to come out. It could well be that it is supposed to be fixed (makes sense if it is - keeps the tonearm in perfect position), but HOW do you paint that part with the screw still in??? And how on earth do you get the tiny cased bearings out (again, for painting)??? | |

Savanna Perimutter 20.06.2012 | werd! I just dropped mine off at the finishers… went ahead and just got everything done white (gave me a really good deal on all white because he was already coating some white shit) … so it looks like i'll be doing the ol' (played out) storm trooper look… im still stoked on it! |

Savanna Perimutter 19.06.2012 | thanks, from what i read, die-cast is hard to anodize. I sure would look nice… but powder coating may be the safer option. @Fressure / where I'm from, powder coating these parts (plus the 2 faceplates) will cost under $100. Id check yellow pages in yer town, i've had a lot of bike parts done and i know the price here fluctuates a lot depending on how 'public facing' they are and what color you use |

Savanna Perimutter 19.06.2012 | sick… looking forward to it |
Brunilda Kora 19.06.2012 | Mine are being powder coated... 2 in White, 2 in Dark Grey. Watch this space. |
Savanna Perimutter 19.06.2012 | I ran into this, I was wanting to anodize those swivel parts and base, but part of the process involves soaking the aluminum in a caustic solution that will eat away anything non aluminum (like steel)… im guessing those bearings and screws are not aluminum… damnit!!! I may try removing the allen pin and heating those parts up with a small butane torch to unglue them? Or some polyester masking tape? Or… i may just have to leave them silver or powder coat them instead (using polyester masking tape to mask those parts off). |
