Cueing Next Track With a Midi Controller?
Cueing Next Track With a Midi Controller? Posted on: 27.06.2012 by Lorita Trone Hey all,I'm new - so go easy on me. I just purchased an Axiom 25 Next Gen and might use it to do some DJ sets (aside from production). Is there any way to cue your next track in the headphones by using simply this device, and a macbook pro with Traktor? Thanks! | |

Lorita Trone 27.06.2012 | Yeah I may do that. I used to have an Ocygen 8 mapped to Traktor so I'm already used to the workflow. Ableton seems overly complicated for what I'm trying to achieve. |
Jerica Salava 27.06.2012 | just get any 2 channel soundcard (Numark I/O, NI Audio 2, etc.) that has drivers for your computer. Get ANY Traktor version that works for your computer. Then map the Axiom to your liking. It's easy and you will learn something new. There are tons of guys that map keyboards with Traktor. Go for it. |
Lorita Trone 26.06.2012 | Yeah, I'm currently using Traktor 2. Still works like a charm. But it sounds like if I'm doing electronic based sets with a non DJ controller, ableton is probably my best bet, yeah? |

Yong Aptekar 26.06.2012 | You might want to go the ableton route if you are looking at live performance that goes beyond mixing tracks. Unless you are looking to mash up your stuff, and live sample with the sample decks. Then Traktor is your option. |
Lorita Trone 26.06.2012 | So will NI Audio 2 only work with Traktor Pro 2.5? And yes - I should spend the 60 to upgrade to Lion. Perhaps I should be more specific about my needs - I'm an emcee who toys a lot with electronic music: http://www.hopsmusic.com I'm looking for a simple yet strong way to control my music and perform at the same time. I've got the Axiom on the way - any suggestions for what else may be helpful? -C |
Hipolito Scionti 26.06.2012 | You can get audio 2 DJ drivers for osx 10.5 http://co.native-instruments.com/ind...tes#Audio_2_DJ However I believe Traktor Pro 2.5 (latest version of software) only works with 10.6+ Perhaps believe about upgrading to Lion. It's cheap as chips. But basically the way the keyboard in video is set up it also requires a dj mixer so you'd need one of those. TBH it's a bit square peg round hole. You may be better off getting a dedicated djing device like the NI S2 |

robin loo 26.06.2012 | similar to what? the audio a2? |
Lorita Trone 26.06.2012 | Awesome. Is there a similar product that will work with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8? |
robin loo 26.06.2012 | you dont/cant map soundcards to traktor. just use them to output 2 channels, one for crowd, the 2nd for cueing. then you can map the midicontroller to the cue buttons in traktor so choose the track you wanna cue up.. https://traktorbible.com/articles/ma...nd-finder.aspx |
Lorita Trone 26.06.2012 | So theoretically (Im at work so I couldnt watch the video with sound) I could map both the NI Audio 2 and the Axiom to Traktor? Thanks again. |
Lorita Trone 26.06.2012 | Perfect. That's exactly what I'm looking for. |
Hipolito Scionti 26.06.2012 | If you get yourself a soundcard such as an NI Audio 2 Then you could try and map it to work something like this. Mapping is easier said than done but is doable. |
