Help with a Party...
Posted on: 26.07.2012 by Noriko Lebowitz
Hey Guys,

So tomorrow I'm DJing at a huge High school and College party. Considering I'm only 14, this is a pretty big deal for me. I'm extremely nervous, anxious, and excited all at the same time.

Anyway. I'm Djing from 5:30 to 10:00 pm. The party however, is lasting until 12:00 pm. The reason I'm leaving early is because I have to wake up super early the next morning to leave for vacation. There was a DJ who was supposed to fill up those last 2 hours, but he just bailed. I'm really conflicted as to what they're going to do. I have to take all of my gear with me when I leave. Speakers and all.

We were going to hook up an Ipod, but we realized we don't have a cable to do so. Any ideas as to what we can do to keep the party going? I'm stressin' out.

THIS.

You parents might be mad at you, but if you smash it, it'll be well worth the bollocking. Especially if it results in the groupie love!

Anyway, they loved me, and I got hired for 2 more parties. Seems like a successful evening for me.
By 10, half the people didn't even care what music was playing, they were just rockin' out haha. Lets just say not too many people were sober. I'm clean though, I don't drink or do drugs/smoke...

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my little summary. I'll post some pic later! Need to go shower.....

Bravo! I'm glad it went so well. Enjoy your trip!

Unless you can come up with a replacement dj who has gear / pa speakers, then it sounds like the party may have to end early.
I'll try

If I turned down gigs because I was worried about lack of sleep I'd still be in my bedroom..... That said you're 14. Fair enough. Glad it went well.

With 4ish hours you dont feel groggy at all, but it just hits you later that day (like, 4-6pm for me at least) but you can power through if you stay active and sleep well the next evening . Trust me, in college you will pull all evening ers relatively often, especially depending upon your major - it's not that big of a deal.

If the only solution is to end up the thing at 10, make sure everyone knows it's not your fault but the other guy's. If you can make it clear without having to yell it on the mic thus being an ass, you're sucessful.
One idea was for me to record a 2 hour set. But really theres no way to play it. I have another friend bringing his pa system, but we still don't know what to do with it. hmmm

Bitch please.. You sleep every evening , you won't DJ that kind of event every evening .
