Absolutely. I was gonna start one off last year but I had an unfortunate leg snapping incident that kept me bed bound for a bit. Haven't heard from Karlos for a bit though...

Trouble with Beatport is that "Indie Dance" (whatever the hell that is) isn't really Nu Disco, so a lot of the music in that category I wouldn't play as it appears to be veering off into Electro House/Nu Rave territory. I find the Juno download Nu Disco section a lot more rewarding to peruse.

Nu disco is kinda confusing. There is nu disco and 'neu disco'- neu disco is french house and distinct from nu disco which is not house and is just nu disco, or something....
Yes, just now it's one of the few EDM styles that evolve rapidly (like dubstep), the french filter-nu disco turned into space disco, eighties style Chrome like productions and who knows next week. Lindstrom's Six Cups of Rebel, don't know even how to classify that album, progressive nu disco? Anyway, it's a cool music style. Even better, those who work with this as producers are really good musicians/producers as it requires a good foundation in music theory such as chord structures similar to jazz music. Even better, strong melodic bass lines are back which me believes is good.

Played some nu-disco stuff and got a little ADD in the last half of this mostly deep set. This is a good example of how even though a song is 10 BPM's slower it can still maintain the energy or even bring it up.

I do enjoy a bit of Nu-Disco, slips in nicely with Soulful & Deep House. I sound like a rep for Traxsource (don't work for them) but they are great for Nu-Disco.

If nu disco extends to Tensnake then I love it.

Old Maceo is pretty nice as well -

I play mix genre sets and I believe adding a little bit funk, treasure fingers, chormeo, loopalike, or moon boots can really get people moving. Girls love it the same way they love top 40s tracks but instead of listening to overproduced, super compressed, void of any soul, lady gaga I get to jam out to a disco melody and some classic samples.

I believe this fits well in here, a mix by a local Berlin DJ that I've been listening to quite a bit lately...

I typically play french disco nu-disco to funky tech house and it works great.

i had a residency where i usually opened with nu disco. my work flow went like this:
nu disco>indie dance, french house type stuff (ducksauce go go bizkitt)
then the other resident would play according to our guest (we had everyone from Classixx, sammy bananas, to Le Castlevania).

people really dug the nu disco stuff. its great for slower evening s, opening/warm up music, or if the crowd is a bit older it works well.

NuDisco is the best genre in my opinion, plenty of funk and soul sounds in addition to some nice orchestral and brass based tracks (You can't beat a bit of brass).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nu-disco

Nu-disco is a 21st century dance music genre associated with a renewed interest in 1970s and early 1980s disco,[2] mid-1980s Italo disco, and the synthesizer-heavy Eurodisco aesthetics.[3]
I believe of it generally as using modern dance music production techniques with disco-oriented samples and synthesizers. It's a pretty broad genre.

I mix it in with deep house/house. If it's a bit slower I'll speed it up within reason. Though some of it's already pretty similar in bpm.

There's a whole ton of different clubs and evening s out there. If you're playing a dubstep evening or if the club is known for techno then nu-disco isn't what you want to play. However there's ton's of clubs out there where nu-disco works well.

It fits well in my deep house sets where I might want a different sound and type of beat structure. Again this largely depends on the song and nu-disco is a very broad category.

10.08.2012
do you find some of it a bit slow for clubs? but not really warm up music?
Leeanna Ayla
10.08.2012
I play it some, basically on the principle that if it sounds good and I like it there must be others that will also want to hear it.
