There was a new thread that had some good conversation going on this same topic, and a mod locked it. They then pointed to several more threads. I figured I'd help them in the right direction to do their overzealous duty.

You can't go wrong with Beatport also the new user interface is nice and they always keep you up-to-date on all the music that just comes out from the dj's you follow ... and Mp3

yea... since beatports update, things are looking sexy, and the suggestions based on tracks in my basket, are much better. getting real lost in track hunting =] all good fun.

and im suprised at the mp3 thing... im starting to believe blowing all my money on wavs is a little pointless =/ the mp3s still sound spot on really...

wavs are more expsensive in beatport though it seems... i sometimes search in beatport, and see if i can buy in trackitdown

OK, I see.

Anyway, this is my take. I prefer to get really good quality WAV files to my 'digital crate'. There's no need to have 2000+ tracks to DJ so I take my time and get those via Beatport, stumpy and so on. Or use my own productions.

I also have an MP3 collection of 320k stuff for tracks that can't be purchased as WAV, most common reason being someone who made a really cool remix available on Soundcloud as MP3 only. Or it was sent out as a promo as a MP3 only.

So having both options is nice. Now, below 320k MP3, that's where I try to draw line. If anyone uploads 192k MP3s to Soundcloud for download purposes, please don't do it, use 320k. Streaming only is fine as Soundcloud streams everything as 128k. And no VBR either, that's just a pain and not needed.

This philosophical debate has gone on for ages and will continue for ages. Search is your friend.
