Hi, my name is _______
Hi, my name is _______ Posted on: 06.09.2012 by Jamila Citino So I have gotten some really mixed feelings about my DJ name ParisCreative. As some who participated in a logo thread (Is my identity/brand outdated) know I took on the name from a brand I had as a web design company with the intention that it could be used elsewhere. I've gotten some positive feedback, but mostly from meh to no. It seems to corporate, it does not seem like a DJ name.So I pose this basic question, my name should be _____. For my first stint as a DJ till 1999 I was known as DJ T-Love. Kinda corny but it was what it was. I would never go back to that. I spin hip-hop, r&b, funk, soul, jazz, rock, pop, some dance. Yeah at 38 I am not too much into the EDM, Dubstep, or other genre, but if it's really good I'll find time to play it. So the names I have so far are: ParisCreative (leaning towards retiring) SoulSpins Funkamix ????? What works, what doesn't. | |
Jamila Citino 08.09.2012 | I am going to commit to using ParisCreative. I have the brand, the SEO is easy for the name, when asked I can just even call myself Paris, it's all about just the marketing. Seriously, it's better than Skrillex. I really thank everyone for the feedback. I appreciate it. |
Kasi Marget 08.09.2012 | Some of the name ideas you had reminded me of this : Cheesy names overall. Find something personal, and take your time. Think about it for a week, and then maybe pick it. |
Charline Dye 08.09.2012 | Everytime I see the thread title my brain says "chicka chicka Slim Shady" And Paris Creative sounds good to me. |
Hipolito Scionti 08.09.2012 | lparismusic.com |
Jamila Citino 08.09.2012 | Well your name does sound a bit trickier to parlay into a DJ name. Loose Paris. Isn't that Paris Hilton anyways. I seriously see some trademark infringement going on. |
Linda Chavda 08.09.2012 | Lou Paris sounds much better than Elliot Adamson haha, what about loose paris? |
Jamila Citino 08.09.2012 | While the domain is for sale on that one, it starts at $990. I hate squatters. |
Hipolito Scionti 08.09.2012 | L. Paris |
Jamila Citino 08.09.2012 | I wish I though I had that awesome of a name. But as I noted I am hesitant to mix up my professional career and my DJ side. Plus domain wise louparis.com goes to the fashion designer Lou Paris. Maybe LTParis where I keep everything else. Hmmm. |
Linda Chavda 08.09.2012 | If my name was Lou Paris it wouldn't even cross my mind to go under anything different! |
Jamila Citino 08.09.2012 | Thinking about using my real name, I've decided not to go that route. As a 16+ year IT professional, my branding from that perspective is in that profession. I want some delineation from my professional life to my DJ side. Maybe if I can find a way to make six figures on the DJ side I might reconsider. LTParis I would consider more, however I have had that domain and name for 15 years to do damn near everything else. I suppose it could be expanded on the music side. There would be some issues with things like Facebook since I already use LTParis as my name for my general stuff. As for funkamix my wife did note it is probably just too vulgar for the general audience. Soulspins I discovered a couple DJs are using that. |
Hipolito Scionti 08.09.2012 | LT Paris is good LL Paris ? |
Ossie Pooley 07.09.2012 | LT Paris is quite a sick name Not as good as LT. Flash but we can't all have a Raichu. |
Jamila Citino 07.09.2012 | Real Name: Lou Paris / Louis Theodore Paris Jr. Sorry to boring and blah for a DJ name IMO. I go by the moniker LTParis on non-music community s. |
Brunilda Kora 07.09.2012 | P. Creative - sounds a bit like "Be creative"... |
Matt Kane 07.09.2012 | I kinda like paris creative. As long as there is no dj infront of it. |
Cristian Carmona 07.09.2012 | Creative Pariś |
Jonas Hanway 07.09.2012 | What's your name? I really don't see the big hype about a DJ name. DJ Chris Squire.. Suits me fine. |
Hipolito Scionti 07.09.2012 | Your real name is? |
Ossie Pooley 07.09.2012 | I prefer Paris Creative to the alternatives... |
Eleonor Janski 06.09.2012 | Depends on how you feel with it. I started off with DJ Infernity. I tough it was a lame name and didn't feel comfortable. After a while and some gigs later people that I didn't know kept calling me Infernity, i got much positive feed back. Just sick with it i like the ring to it just believe of your name coming up on like electric area "Paris Creative in the mix". Sounds good to me and it's catchy, plus you need a name that stands out and that one does for sure |

PS: Had to write this one: http://community .djranking s.com/showthread.php?t=57668 Seems getting a name is the hardest thing for DJs nowadays. It used to be to find good records. Or today doing good productions/remixes. But I could be wrong. |
Leeanna Ayla 06.09.2012 | I really like Paris Creative no DJ. |
Stanley Topoleski 06.09.2012 | how about just paris?? or an offshoot of paris. Dj Paress?? |
Lawana Spratlen 06.09.2012 | Depends on the club |
Jamila Citino 06.09.2012 | Somehow I don't believe that will work. |
Lawana Spratlen 06.09.2012 | DJ Jizz Fart |
