A-Trak is way to cool about this topic and he's right about people needing to bury it.

Britney Spears with the compelling questions "I wanna know who let you on stage?"

I wanna know who prescribed Britney the Xanax again?

Auto-tune removes a lot of the original voice of the singers resulting in most singers sounding the same.
Sync removes a little bit of the transition and two or more playback sound where the humans introduce wanted or unwanted groove. Actually the SW syncs might do the same depending on the material. But sync does not change much the sound unless you pitch the track quite a lot from the original key. Which DJs do anyway for matching. So I don't see the comparison.

Unless we are talking about laziness or die-hard sync-is-evil political commenting of course.

Just a short history lesson in pop productions using one sentence: Ever since let's say Les Paul pioneered multi-track recordings the pop music business has been involved in creating larger-than-life productions.
