two tempos, one track, how may beat grids? Posted on: 09.11.2010 by Felisa Cicio hey, i mix drum and bass but there are a few dubstep and house songs i also like. as you know the tempos are different, I have a few songs which start at 174 and then have sections of 140, ideal spots to mix dubstep. however the beatgrid is wrong at these parts as its too fast. is there nay way to make two separate beatgrids? so i can use these songs to convert from one bpm to the other? | |

Felisa Cicio 09.11.2010 | yeah, il have carry on using these work arounds. i just thought i might have missed a trick |
Maisie Marras 09.11.2010 | ok then. i believe you can (im not sure if this was said) fill up your cuepoints, go to the breakdown, set a grid marker on each beat (precision is key) then delete all those extra cuepoints you added to fill the 8 slots |
Latoria Kavulich 09.11.2010 | you can isolate that section of the track by dropping another grid marker just before the tempo change and also when it changes back. so you will have 3 grid markers, the original grid and a section (which wont be gridded because traktor cant do it). |
Teresia Janusch 09.11.2010 | lol fair enough point really. |

Maisie Marras 09.11.2010 | um... well, make sure you know the exact bpm of the brake down make the dubstep track that speed hit play on the intro of the dubstep track durring the verry start (or when ever you need it) of the break down pitchbend by ear. come on guys, this is weak.... i know its a prominently digital dj community , but really? |

Felisa Cicio 09.11.2010 | yeah thats true, bt id never play that song ^ |
Tatum Ansaldo 09.11.2010 | There are songs with 175 and 140BPM, like the TC remix of B.O.B. Nothin' on you: |
Felisa Cicio 09.11.2010 | ah, thats not ideal - shames theres no way around it. my bad. i meant 130. but i usually speed it up to 140 and tap to change the grid on the fly, it snot something i want to do when recording or anything like that. theres quarks by dirtyphonics, the genesis device track which is the one i was working with a few months ago, but also one called Dakota by Camo and Krooked which i'd like to use. other songs like this are dj fresh gold dust vent remix. |
Marguerite Salsedo 09.11.2010 | Traktor can't have two bpms for one song... best would be to have two copies of the track, one with the DnB beat grid another with a beat grid set for the Dubstep bit, then just cut from one to the other at the appropriate time, song goes on, you get the bpm you want to then mix in some dubstep... I'm curious, which songs have the 140 sections? I usually come across ~130 sections (songs like: Vandals by Dirtyphonics, Annihilation by The Sect and Genesis Device by Audio) |
Felisa Cicio 09.11.2010 | this is using traktor btw |
