I feel like an idiot for paying the $5 for the other app, but hey I can still use it for other things. As for soundcloud...if soundcloud accepts AAC then it should definitely be able to be downloaded as is when people download it from your soundcloud page. Essentially soundcloud doesn't alter the file that gets downloaded, it just alters the audio that is used in the soundcloud audio player so that it streams better, but if you upload a mix with your pictures and markers all in the AAC file it will be exactly as you had it when you uploaded. Hope that helps guys! |

Here's some screens of how my finished mix ended up. These were taken from an iPhone 4. |

Jerica Salava 21.09.2012 | Now we need to verify if you can upload your mix to Soundcloud. When your friends download it from Soundcloud, does it load up exactly like your pictures? > |

Virgie Igler 20.09.2012 | Hey guys. Little update. I wasn't able to use the original method posted by loverocket because mountain lion doesn't support it. BUT I was able to purchase an app on the mac app store called "audiobook builder" for $5 and it does it beautifully well. it took me like 3 hours to figure out where the chapters were on itunes. So i thought it wasn't working for the longest time. But nonetheless I now have my mix in one AAC file. and it's under songs. When i play it on my iphone it plays normally without any gaps, but it allows me to skip to each song that I set up, as well it gives me the option to look at all the songs in my mix in order and allows me to select a section to go to (they're all labeled with the track names). All in all i'm pretty pleased. Now let's see if people will actually make use of it or not lol. |

Anyway, it's a no-brainer to also make an MP3 file, I'm using 320k files for Mixcloud, suspect they stream 128k but it does not hurt to always try to upload best quality. BTW the new Fission 2 up at the Mac App store could do AAC indexing! |

Considering all iPods play AAC, and its pretty much a standard now for most players on smartphones, etc. I wouldn't mind using it. I'm not too worried about uploading it online, since I use Mixcloud, which allows me to timestamp my mixes. I was more believeing of people who are listening to my mixes on the bus or while they're working out, and who just wanted to skip a little ahead (because maybe they don't like a particular song). I'll let you guys know if it works!! Once again thanks so much. |
Celine Surico 20.09.2012 | AAC works with anything decent out there so I would not worry about any odd-ball old players. Use AAC. |

Jerica Salava 20.09.2012 | Those ^ are all MAC applications. This is for Windows: http://lodensoftware.com/chapter-and-verse/ |
Jerica Salava 20.09.2012 | I don't believe you can index MP3's It only works with AAC and other formats. > |
Jerica Salava 20.09.2012 | this looks cool too. They call it audiobook maker, but you can use it with music too: http://audiobookmaker.sourceforge.net/ > |

Virgie Igler 20.09.2012 | After some more research I believe this may be an answer.
Apple.com - Some CDs have tracks that play best without any breaks in between — audiobooks on CD and DJ mixes, for example. iTunes lets you combine tracks so they’re imported as one continuous track that suffers no disruption, even in shuffle mode.

Join Together automates the process of joining the files of selected iTunes tracks together with QuickTime and exporting them as a single AAC Music or Audiobook file/track. Optionally, you can then create a "chapterized" audio file of the exported AAC file with pointers to the individually joined tracks.
