Hey guys,

So i tried it with Garageband (you have to select to do a podcast). Garageband is actually better than the method I posted earlier. With the previous version there was a tiny gap between each of the chapters, whereas with the garageband version there is absolutely no gap and it's one complete seamless mix.

I feel like an idiot for paying the $5 for the other app, but hey I can still use it for other things.

As for soundcloud...if soundcloud accepts AAC then it should definitely be able to be downloaded as is when people download it from your soundcloud page. Essentially soundcloud doesn't alter the file that gets downloaded, it just alters the audio that is used in the soundcloud audio player so that it streams better, but if you upload a mix with your pictures and markers all in the AAC file it will be exactly as you had it when you uploaded.

Hope that helps guys!

I'll try it out with garageband toevening and let you know which one works out better.

I've always had bad luck with garageband in the past, and that is why i choose to do all my audio edits and exporting in audacity, or somewhere else.

Here's some screens of how my finished mix ended up. These were taken from an iphone 4.

So i thought it wasn't working for the longest time. But nonetheless I now have my mix in one AAC file. and it's under songs. When i play it on my iphone it plays normally without any gaps, but it allows me to skip to each song that I set up, as well it gives me the option to look at all the songs in my mix in order and allows me to select a section to go to (they're all labeled with the track names). All in all i'm pretty pleased. Now let's see if people will actually make use of it or not lol.

try it with Garageband and let us now which method is better.

Cheers.

BTW the new Fission 2 up at the Mac App store could do AAC indexing!

my point is that people who download your mix from soundcloud could have an indexed AAC file, instead of one long MP3 file. Like the OP said, then people can skip forward or backward (like a CD) from their iPhone/Android device.

THANKS SO MUCH all of you guys!!

Yea I will try to do it in AAC. Considering all iPods play AAC, and its pretty much a standard now for most players on smartphones, etc. I wouldn't mind using it. I'm not too worried about uploading it online, since I use Mixcloud, which allows me to timestamp my mixes. I was more believeing of people who are listening to my mixes on the bus or while they're working out, and who just wanted to skip a little ahead (because maybe they don't like a particular song). I'll let you guys know if it works!!

Once again thanks so much.

AAC works with anything decent out there so I would not worry about any odd-ball old players. Use AAC.

After some more research I believe this may be an answer.

Apple.com - Some CDs have tracks that play best without any breaks in between — audiobooks on CD and DJ mixes, for example. iTunes lets you combine tracks so they’re imported as one continuous track that suffers no disruption, even in shuffle mode.
To do this with already existing MP3s (that you've spliced) look here:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0

Join Together automates the process of joining the files of selected iTunes tracks together with QuickTime and exporting them as a single AAC Music or Audiobook file/track. Optionally, you can then create a "chapterized" audio file of the exported AAC file with pointers to the individually joined tracks.
Definitely a bit more work, but also A LOT less work than making a cue sheet. I'll let you know if it works when I try it out toevening after work.

cheers,
