Progressive House?! What is going on?
Progressive House?! What is going on? Posted on: 22.09.2012 by Jacqualine Cieplik I aways check beatport every week and have scan through the top new progressive tracks, however I feel progressive is turning into electro house which is fine just not what I'm after.I often warm up for a trance DJ, so need to get the vibes ready. Anyone got any good 'progressive tracks' that I can check out. Xian | |

Jonah Askland 24.09.2012 | Progressive house is a unique genre, IMO is the mix of progressive melodies (from 90's trance and techno) with some house beats. Different to the cheesy electro-house vocals with prog sounds charted at Beatport Top referents of the Progressive Techno House Sound ; Sasha (Last Night on Plante Earth) John Digweed (Bedrock) Dave Seaman (Bedrock, Sudbeat, etc) Nick Warren (Hope recordings, Sudbeat) Hernan Cattaneo (Sudbeat) James Zabiela Guy J (Lost and Found, Bedrock, Cocoon) Henry Saiz (Natura Sonoris) In Henry Saiz words:" As Henry Saiz, I made quite a few tracks that were born from the idea to add techno beats to some Italo chords, which people later called 'prog-house', which I find odd, as I've never been a fan of that style. But then again, all those tags and styles are so subjective that I don't really care..." From playground mag interview: http://www.playgroundmag.net/music/m...hal-incandenza |

Celine Surico 23.09.2012 | Long time ago when I started purchasing and listening to progressive house, I assumed it was similar to progressive rock, i.e. complex arrangements. Boy I was surprised to hear it was just based on progressive changes, instead. Anyway, I believe Indie Dance music has taken over the mantle for more interesting dance music just now where progressive is mostly hanging on to the early 2000 sound which sadly is an old hat nowadays. |
Evalyn Voges 24.09.2012 | http://www.beatport.com/track/porcel...al-mix/3712422 Quite hard, but has a bodaciously old school breakdown, with the biggest drop after... |
Margie Pavell 23.09.2012 | Even the "indie dance" label is being taken over by the electro house producers now... |

Nancey Inderlied 22.09.2012 | I dont really get why people always complain about "progressive" house on Beatport not being "progressive" enough, youre given something like a one minute preview of a 6-7 minute track... |
Random X 22.09.2012 | I used to be a huge Anjuna fan! |
Nilsa Erben 22.09.2012 | I find myself liking a lot of Mistique Music's releases. |
Peggy Gabrielson 22.09.2012 | who said good prog didn't exist anymore...hope this one gets dropped at the bedrock party on october 6th! nick muir and john digweed - raise (Original mix) - fresh http://www.beatport.com/track/raise-...al-mix/3786140 |
Jacqualine Cieplik 22.09.2012 | Cheers, JayTech stuff looks good and I will look at EQ. |
Margie Pavell 22.09.2012 | check out the EQ label or the Balance CD series for some inspiration... |
Sherrell Dargenio 22.09.2012 | There is still tons of really good prog out there, just stop looking at the top 10 and do some diggin. Take 20 minutes, click on some random names and you'll find something. |
Kristofer Krauel 22.09.2012 | There is still loads of awesome progressive music about. Progressive house is going very strong... just listen to Jaytech's podcast. and progressive trance is just as strong... listen to Andy Moor's podcast. That shit you hear on beatport is what they would call PROGNO! and its FUCKING SHIT!!! Keep digging though and you will find the good stuff!! Trust me. |
Cole Maroto 22.09.2012 | Welcome to electronic genres ever evolving shifts and rebrandings. Though I do feel like progressive house was turning into electro 6 years ago via the beatport charts. I kind of miss the darker, percussion laden progressive sounds easily attainable in the early 00's. i also wish tribal house was still a thing instead of getting lumped into tech house, but so it goes. |
Jacqualine Cieplik 22.09.2012 | I Feel like 'leaving' however I know their are some very good tracks around just in the middle of all the electro stuff! |
Nga Mcquarter 22.09.2012 | Nowadays Electro and Progressive House go together, and the genre called "Progressive House" it's not anymore a melodic track with a progression, so today it's any house track with melody. BTW some true prog tracks that you may like come from Trance genius Arty, I personally love Trio and the remix on Ferry Corsten's Punk!!! Another track I like is Hans Zimmer - Time (Audible Bootleg) which is a prog-trance version of SHM - Greyhound!! I hope I've helped you!! btw sorry for my english xD |
Random X 22.09.2012 | This lead me to leave that genre for what it was back in december 2010. (Never looked back, to be honest) |
