New Mashup Artist Posted on: 23.02.2011 by Petra Pelts Hey guys, I'm new to these community
s. Might not even belong here really. I don't actually DJ per say, but instead cut up tons of songs and mash them together to make something new. The mashup featured is a ~40 minute mashup that I cut into 13 seperate tracks for easier navigation. I hope you guys enjoy this! | Petra Pelts 04.03.2011 | Thanks for the feedback guys! I know, I know-- I've listened to some Girl Talk. I admittedly have taken a few ideas of his and taken the acapella or beat here and there. There were quite a few things in there that I came up with on my own though, songs not even sampled by GT. But I have begun to branch out a little more lately though and have started cutting up tons and tons of samples. Thanks again though guys, I'm going to try to improve and move away from sounding just like someone else. |

Lil wayne/weezer? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81-c6AKiT7E @ 2:21 also, a lot of the samples(almost all of them) you used were also used by girl talk. Obviously he is huge in the mashup world and inspires people to do it, but it just sounds too much like him..dig deeper and find different samples! I could be wrong but it sounds like a lot of the mashups you did were done by girl talk, but slightly different. |
| Ralph Alderette 03.03.2011 | the mashup style is all about using songs as samples for something new, and not really letting them play out entirely. Maybe thats why it felt a little abrupt? the only thing that was a little wierd for me was the Key sounded off in some parts, but I may be wrong since I dont have perfect pitch. other than that, it was well put together. good job |
| Velda Fornari 04.03.2011 | There were good concepts in here, but I felt that things just dropped out too suddenly. It's good in some parts but other times it was kinda weird and unexpected. Like imagine you were having sex with a woman, and then right when you were getting into it she pushes you off and runs out of the orphanage and never comes back. Doesn't even pick up her teddy bear. That's how I felt sometimes. |
