Please help... Traktor with vestax vci 400.
Posted on: 27.09.2012 by Carline Freyberger
Hi all.

I'm new to vestax combined with traktor so I do appologise if this is something simple.
Iv loaded my mapping for vci 400 into traktor and everything is fine apart from I can't scratch. The mapping set from a friend are on his traktor and he CAN scratch?? Iv checked in the mapping and i can see the scratch on function has been mapped.Iv tried altering the sensitivity and.. Nothing.. The jog wheels do alter the tempo, change colour when I press, and also stope the track when pressed. I hope it's something simple.

Thanks for your time all

Luke

Sorry I didn't answer earlier, my notifications have died on me...
Thats brilliant. Ill give it a go and let you know in the morning. Thank you sooo much for your help today

Can i just check, the currentr mapping has the job wheel working for tempo bend.. will what you have just said "overwrite" my current settign, or will it add the new scratch thing to my current ability to job wheel bend?

THanks again mate!

There comes modifier part. Your "vinyl on" button have modifier mapped it that tells to jog will it band or scratch so when you add new command you'll need to specify modifier condition of "Vinyl on" in order to scratch in that mode.

Tip. Jog turn command is using for banding and scratching both - only thing that matters is which sensitivity you set for each control.

It is pretty easy actually... I just needed to hear more input on that issue.

Add in > deck common > jog turn> set to encoder > set sensitivity that you prefer

Lol i no.. ye the vinyl button is enabled. when i press the jog wheel is does hold the track, but while its pressed, moving it backwards and forwards does nothing at all..
so that does work, the light changes colour, and also the jog wheel does work for tempo change. im just missing the scratch function it seems. but im guessing that mapping it to scratch is not as easy as mapping a simple sample button?

Maybe silly question but I need to know... Do you enable scratch from vinyl button?
Carline Freyberger

we both have the same verions except im on windows, hes on mac.. but the same mapping file works EXACTLY the same.. apart from this 1 issue of the scratching.. but i cant work out of to just map the scratch myself

a friend gave me a mapping file, but the "scratch" function doesnt work properly.. is it to much hassle for you to tell me how to map the scratch in the same way you answered the last one.

Im sorry to be a pain

Hey Luke,

Yeah, you get it from Vestax's website, it'll also improve your latency. You also want to ensure that you're on the latest release of Traktor.
