But I didn't DISLIKE your track selection either, and my GF and I often mix similar music ourselves, so the fact that neither of us DISLIKED your selection is actually rather positive. When you hear someone who plays in a very similar style, it's almost harder to like it than if someone plays in a different style, because you believe about what you would have done more, you know? - Similar to the above comment about memorableness, there were almost no vocals or other hooks. If someone were to describe a part of the mix to you, or ask you for a track id having only heard it, how would they describe it? Where are the "anchors" in your mix? - In general I would say that the impression I am left with after this mix is that your next mix is likely to be pleasant to listen to. My thoughts are that given how solid this foundation is, I'd like to see you go to the next level in terms of creating a mix around a theme or with more of an explicitly planned progression. Merilyn Sellards 11.08.2011 | Hey guys this is using 4 decks x2 on two S4s! let me have the feedback! http://soundcloud.com/locohood/locuburib2b |
Rheba Sheftel 11.08.2011 | well thank you! about the dj dan upbeat mix, I kinda try what feels good and what I believe would sound good. I don't know who dj dan is or what technique he uses but I guess I know what you mean. Well thanks for the compliments, definitely a good motivation for posting more practise! Will keep u guys updated for improvements |
Kenton Almeyda 10.08.2011 | I actually listened yesterday and have some feedback, but have been slammed busy today.. will try to post later toevening
. EDIT : - I liked the new mix better, and found it more "exciting" to listen to. I am somewhat likely to actually listen to it again! - I may be mistaken but I believe your overall volume might be a bit loud when you were using effects in the mix? - I really liked that you used the DJ Dan upbeat house mix technique where you have a build and then drop in another track that's deep and well counterpunctual, so it's like buildingbuildingYEAHOMGG!!!! - That said, bear in mind that *any* mix technique will lose its punch if you do it on most mixes. - Also remember that most audiences, if they notice you mixing and it sounds good ("good" and "notice-able"), are likely to forgive slight "looseness." - I believe my ideal ideal mix would be 85% of the way between the last mix and this one. Just a SMIIDGE cleaner and with a FEEEEWWWW fewer builds, but with the same energetic working in the mix. IMO great improvement.. thx for posting, and also of course for posting the tracklist!! |
Jolyn Brunello 10.08.2011 | i liked it mate.nephew was right though, looking at the tracklist first made me want to have a listen....a fun mix |

Kenton Almeyda 08.08.2011 | No problem, happy to help.. I would also like to echo the above posters : in general you will get more listens and therefore more feedback if you export your playlist from traktor and post it (in summary form) when you post a mix. |
Rheba Sheftel 08.08.2011 | well thanks, you are the first one who really gave some helpfull advice. I listened to it myself a few times and well, pretty much noticed the same things u said. It was okay, the mixes were all somewhat smooth but somehow not really noticable or overwhelming. I'll believe of what you said while trying to improve my style. Thanks! |

Rheba Sheftel 07.08.2011 | okay thanks alot dude! any comments on my set though? |
Leeanna Ayla 07.08.2011 | All of your histories are saved in the archive folder in traktor. |
Breana Singerman 07.08.2011 | Well, if you expect people to make the effort to listen to your mix, the least you can do is provide a tracklisting. With the sheer volume of mixes out there, why would I listen to yours when I can listen to one that already has a tracklisting? |
Rheba Sheftel 07.08.2011 | aah thanks didn't know that. but i guess there's no way to get back the history of 2 sets ago is it |
Celine Surico 07.08.2011 | It's pretty easy to extract the track listing from Traktor, see the History section in the browser. |
Rheba Sheftel 07.08.2011 | I could do that but I want more apreciation for that before I'll put that effort in it! If you wanna know a specific track or personally really like a tracklisting let me know (the time the track starts if you want a specific track id) and I'll help you |
Breana Singerman 06.08.2011 | No tracklisting? |
