Looking for some feedback for a friend! Posted on: 10.10.2011 by Audrey Pinda http://soundcloud.com/aintdiscole/2011-08-11-prewemfThis is a mix a buddy of mine put out a little bit back. He's someone who has been mixing for years now, and probably the biggest DnB fan that I honestly know. Would love for some constructive feedback on this mix for him, so I can link him here and see what people have to say about it. I've been on his case about getting his ass out to push it for spots in a club, but he's been hesitant. I honestly love his style of mixing, and would love to hear what people other than myself and our "crew" have to say about it. Gear used: Technics 1200 MK5's, Serato SL1, Gemini 3 Channel Mixer CD length mix of tracks from artists that will be at WEMF 2011. Drum + Bass, House, Breaks, Dubstep! Represented artists: Andy C, Friction, Pendulum, Doctor P, Skrillex, Flux Pavillion, Stanton Warriors, Caspa, Digitalism, Jack Beats, Rusko, DJ SS, Loadstar, Noisia, Marcus Visionary Not too bad for an off the cuff mix, though I did practice the intro mix one time . There are a couple train wrecks but the rest is decent. Mix is mono since that's all I've got for input on my laptop. Did some processing after the fact to even out the levels. Track listing: 01) RAM Trilogy - Screamer (VIP) 02) Noisia - Friendly Intentions 03) Greenlaw - Warrior (DJ SS, Influx UK + Nostik DnB Vocal Mix) 04) Jonny L - Back To Your Roots (Friction and K Tee Remix) 05) Visionary - Sound War feat. Bunny General (Original Vocal Remix) 06) Visionary - Skylarking 07) RAM Trilogy - Asylum 08) Friction - Someone feat. Mclean (Extended Mix) 09) Noisia - Deception 10) Breakage - Fighting Fire (Ft. Jess Mills) (Loadstar Remix) 11) Dan Le Sac + Scroobius Pip - Sick Toevening (Doctor P Remix) 12) Pendulum - Set me on Fire 13) Fresh - Gold Dust (Flux Pavillion Remix) 14) Rusko - Woo Boost 15) Noisia - Split the Atom (DJ Edit) 16) Jack Beats - Revolution 17) Yo Majesty - Club Action (Stanton Warriors Remix) 18) Skrillex - Weekends!!! feat. Sirah 19) Project Bassline - Drop The Pressure (Jack Beats Rinsed Out Rave Remix) 20) Noisia - Machine Gun (DJ Edit) 21) TC - Wheres My Money (Jack Beats Caspa Remix) 22) Digitalism - Zdarlight (Stanton Warriors Zdar-Heavy Mix) 23) Doctor P - Sweet Shop (Flux Pavilion Remix) 24) Doctor P - Sweet Shop (Friction, Camo And Krooked Drum And Bass Mix) 25) Friction + K-Tee - Set it Off 26) RAM Trilogy - No Reality (Noisia 2007 Remix) 27) Pendulum + Fresh - Kingston Vampires 28) Loadstar - Link to the Past 29) Xample + Lomax - Contra 30) Visionary - Change 31) Noisia - Diplodocus 32) Friction - Flip the Page 33) Andy C - Finder Keepers 34) Pendulum - Salt in the Wounds 35) Pendulum - Witchcraft (Rob Swire Drumstep Remix) | |

Kenton Almeyda 21.10.2011 | I listened to your (friend's) mix on my earbuds, streaming via subsonic, while driving the last leg of a cross country drive with my parents. Here's my feedback. - Does Serato have the equivalent of a "sync" button? This mix was solid in terms of phase/phrase/beatmatching. I didn't notice the rough mixes, though admittedly I was driving and occasionally talking to my parents while doing so. - Thanks for the tracklisting, download link, and proper soundcloud embed. - I don't particularly enjoy this style of modern DNB, but the mix kept moving at a nice pace and I didn't *hate* any of the tracks either. Levels and harmonic transitions were solid throughout, though I guess the levels bit is "cheated" a bit after the fact. - If I have any critique to offer it's that the energy level also stayed around the same throughout. With CD length mixes, I like a bit more of a journey in terms of energy level from the start to the finish.. - There's "serious DNB evening s" in MA these days? Sure wasn't when I lived in the area 10 years ago.. ever since the original boston DNB crew idled off I thought it was dead-zone? Thanks for posting, and keep at it! |
Audrey Pinda 09.10.2011 | legit my friend lol. http://soundcloud.com/crb is my soundcloud, nothing good up there except some old ableton fucking around, which the files I lost when my last computer crashed. I still have yet to get a DVS. The mix above is a good buddy of mine who I've been hounding about recording when he mixes. Honestly, he got me seriously interested in mixing in the first place, as he was the first of my crew with legit tables. Some serious DnB evening s around the area, and would honestly love some serious feedback for him (good or bad) so I could help push him into going for spots. |
Breana Singerman 09.10.2011 | Your "friend", eh? |
