First drum & bass mix Posted on: 04.11.2011 by Boyd Sankaran Finally sat down and did a dnb mix without (completely) botching it at some point. Nothing too crazy going on here, just some pretty simple mixing throughout. I just wanted to get something that had a good flow to it. Feedback is more than welcome.http://www.mixcloud.com/grubbers/drum-bass-mix/ | |

Khadijah Wojtach 19.11.2011 | I don't really mix much dnb myself but there was something off around the 8:30 min. mark and anubis->up all evening . Great track list, really digging it. |
Boyd Sankaran 19.11.2011 | Recorded another mix late last evening
after I got home from the bars. After listening to it again this morning, I have to say that I'm pretty happy with the first half of it, but then it starts to be a little less seamless toward the end of the mix. All things considered, I believe it turned out pretty good for the state that I was in at 3 AM and that it was all off the cuff. I figured that I'd post it to try and get some feedback on what worked well and what didn't. http://soundcloud.com/grubbers/liquid-mix Tracklist: Monday Blues (Original Mix) - Utah Jazz Yellow Shoes (Original Mix) - DJ Marky & S.P.Y Save Yourself (Ray Keith Remix) - Hiatus Turn Up The Music (Original Mix) - Camo & Krooked Decades (Original Mix) - Fred V & Grafix Mesmerized (Original Mix) - Lenzman Protection (Original Mix) - Culture Shock Lunar Bass (Commix Remix) - Origin Unknown Room To Breathe (Original Mix) - Fred V & Grafix Hot Love (Original Mix) - Break Tear You Down (Original Mix) - Brookes Brothers Paradise (Original Mix) - Fred V Hubble (Original Mix) - Basher & Xtrah Sabotage (Original Mix) - S.P.Y Take Me Away (Original Mix) - Chase & Status We Can Have It All (Original Mix) - Danny Byrd Soul Calibur (Original Mix) - Rollz Wile Out (DJ Marky Remix) - Zinc Deep Inside (Original Mix) - Grafix Mystic Sunset (Original Mix) - DJ Marky & S.P.Y Broken Dreams (Original Mix) - Lenzman |
Boyd Sankaran 06.11.2011 | Thanks for the feedback, rdaletaylor. Practicing with some of the tracks before recording a mix would definitely serve me well. I threw a playlist of 30 tracks together and just improvised from that. Here's a download link for the mix and the tracklist. I've been trying to get it up on Soundcloud, but that doesn't seem to be working for me. http://www.mediafire.com/?yjo6h3hd6nl5jt9 Andy C - Finder's Keepers (Original Mix) DJ Fresh - Heavyweight (Original Mix) Nu:Tone - Hit & Run (Original Mix) Camo & Krooked - Anubis (Original Mix) John B - Up All Night (Original Mix) Origin Unknown - Lunar Bass (Commix Remix) Dom & Roland - Paralax (Original Mix) Foreign Concept & Bringa - Cemetery (Original Mix) Cyantific & Wilkinson - Get Into It (Original Mix) Fierce & S.P.Y - Fury (Original Mix) S.P.Y - By Your Side (Logistics Remix) Break - Trying (Original Mix) Loadstar - Blvd (Original Mix) Icicle & Switch - Ur In My Head (Original Mix) Moving Fusion - Makosa (Original Mix) Delta Heavy - Minus (Original Mix) K-Tee & Friction - Jupiter (Original Mix) Culture Shock - Machine (Original Mix) Krome & Time - The Licence (Break Remix) Break & Die - Slow Down VIP Culture Shock - Protection (Original Mix) Basher - Illusion (Original Mix) |
Charline Dunch 05.11.2011 | i dont like mixcloud to listen to stuff, but i am liking the tracklist. would you put it up as a download somewhere? i'd like to listen to this on the go. would be giving you some feedback afterwards! |
Dino Houghland 05.11.2011 | Don't be afraid to mix the bass lines, this is the beauty of this style of music. The first mix was kind of killed by moving the crossfader over after starting a mix, working the channel faders between the two lines then a gradual fade out would be less jarring and more subtle. The transition into Hit and Run worked much more in your favor. Good harmonic mixing into the Up all Night, would have been nice to move into another drop and just tease it. Up all Night is an anthem in my book, which is still heavy and beautiful but works best broken apart. The transition into Cemetery worked nicely. At about the 19 minute mark is where I hear confidence coming off in you mixes, I'm really enjoying everything, and suspect that I'm going to enjoy the rest of this session. I suggest if for you to maybe practice for before recording, believe about the difficult songs you want to put together, and go thru the tough spots, then record it. This all has a lot of potential. Maybe even warming up a little with open format playing what you want before going thru a set list, then not worry about rearranging your programming on the spot if you feel it would work better different. |
Marilee Drinnen 04.11.2011 | Tracklisting? Or is it on mixcloud? If it is, I can't view it since its blocked at work. |
