CDJ 850 - DJM 700 - Traktor 2.0 Setup

Hi all,

Right, got a question for you all!

The club where I reguarly play has upgraded to CDJ 850's (Woo!) and ideally I would LOVE to start using them as controllers. Now I've managed to upgrade them and setup the HID interface etc and had them hooked up to Traktor as controllers and they work perfect.

BUT

I would've thought that connecting them to the mixer via the RCA cables would be how the sound would play out, but no... I still seem to have to route everything through the audio 8 DJ interface.

Now I've got a macbook, and it only has 2 USB cables.. I dont really wanna use a USB hub.

Is the only option Ive got to use them as controllers only and use the audio 8 as the output into the mixer..
Or can you somehow use the CDJ 850's as a direct output from Traktor into the mixer?

Answers on a postcard! Thanks!!

And yes, I've used search, and didn't get anywhere. Thanks again.

Basically. Using a CDJ-850 with serato is exactly like using it as a standalone but you're controlling the software rather than on board media. I found midi to be unresponsive and highly lacking in comparison. Every single feature of the CDJ is perfectly recreated and there's no noticeable latency.

Ahhhh so it's not an issue with Pioneer it's an issue with the actual 850 model.

It's crap that they would give HID support to 2000's 900's and 400's and not the 850's.

Massive shame, would make my job an absolute dream. DJ'ing with a Traktor X1 and not the CDJ's takes something away from the experience for me. I know there are workarounds I could use (loading tracks on USB etc). But i can't be bothered messing around having to limit what I play because of what the capacity of a USB stick is.

Not the full level of advanced HID that was only implemented in the last traktor update though.

CDJ400 had HID integration with traktor before 850's have even come out.

It's not pioneer that stops the 850s working with HID. They work with SSL.

Yes, but 400s with HID aren't a threat for 900s sales, 850's probably would be (at least Pio believes in that way).

The thing that makes it weird is that the 400s have full HID support.

I was talking about actual jog performances of platter, like how much ticks does it have. That also counts?
Tatum Ansaldo

Hell no. Accuracy and resolution is SO much better with HID.
Kellie Myrum

You believe that jogwheel resolution doesn't work the same in both modes?

It's still shite compared to HID.

I haven't got my hands on it but there should be possibility to tweak default traktor mapping if needed.

This breaks my heart. I don't get why NI OR Pioneer didn't do it. I would truly be in <3 with my 850's if they had full HID support with Traktor.

I don't get Native Instrument's reason why they don't create HID control for the 850's. They did it for the 2000's, 900's and the 400's. Anyone knows why the 850's are not supported?

DAMN!

I was really hoping that I could use them to connect directly to the mixer.

Thanks for the help, and sorry for confusing people.

You need to aggregate the sound cards into one audio device (google aggregate audio device) and select that as your output in traktor.
