DJ Bighead Best of 2011 Drum and Bass Mix (1 Hour of Liquid, Tech & Atmospheric DnB) Posted on: 31.12.2011 by Joie Cantillon I sat down this morning and decided to make my best of 2011 drum and bass mix. Unfortunately there were a bunch of tracks and producers that I wanted to get in the mix that I couldn't get in. Pretty all over the place, a bit of Liquid, a bit of Atmospheric, a few harder tunes, a few anthems and some soulful cuts ... I have stupid Modern Warfare 3 taking up most of my free time. On a mission to be 10th Prestige before any of my friends lol. And here comes Final Fantasy XIII-2 around the corner. my poor wife, i feel for her. |
| Joie Cantillon 06.01.2012 | Thanks for the feedback all Illstep, yeah heatwave is just a perfect dancefloor tune by two of the guys I have always listened to - Greg Packer and Makoto are Liquid Dons...Thanks for not taking my comments as pretentious I just believe that I'm going to spend a bit of extra time and put my thoughts on some of the standout tunes or mixing errors or comments in my mixes from now on Citizen - Glad I could get you in the mood (that sounds really bad ) for your mix, what I listened to of it was really good Techstep (? you know I get all confused with all the subgenres) as far the dissonant mix, I really wasn't overly concerned with harmonics on this mix I know the tunes were a step and a half apart or so, but I figured with an end of the year set I didn't have to constrict the set too much... Johnny B - I really have been Digging your sets, you definitely need to rerecord the had a few beers mix, it was very very nice mix. As far as my tracklist goes, I don't really go out much and where I am there is no DnB but me so I just really get my tracks through Digging on beatport and soundcloud and here from other peoples mixes so my sets are a bit different I guess...I hope you like it though Yoshi - You did miss it, but glad to see you in the thread nonetheless, you see I bit that SND track yet again, it really is one of my all time favorite tunes thanks for showing it to me...Also I haven't forgotten about the b2b mix, Everytime I sit down to make it I just loose focus (fucking steam winter sale has destroyed my free time, too much dungeon defenders, dead island, SPAZ, Skyrim and I still have Arkham City, Total War Shogun 2, Sword of the Stars, Portal 2, Deus Ex... the list could go on forever) or have real life grab me, will try to get something put together this evening |

Was listening to it before I went on mixlr for that session (finished up about 10 minutes ago lol), definitely got me a in a good mood to mix. Only bit that caught my ears was around 50 ish minutes in the keys were clashing a bit but other than that fantastic stuff man. Keep it up! As for my top D&B tracks of 2011? Don't know that I'll be doing a mix of them (though you can expect to see a D&B mix from me soon ) but I mine was Shackles by Morphy in the top tunes of 2011 thread. |
