It's an example of a swing house track blowing up completely to international pop levels. I don't believe they had any idea when they made it it would get so huge and become a massive pop/top 40 hit. It's still house music.

I remember the first time I heard we no speak americano, it was in the car with my friend who's now very sadly deceased. It was unbelievably overplayed on the radio and everywhere else from that point on, but let's face it, it was always a great, great pop song.
