Mixed In Key 5.5 beta
Mixed In Key 5.5 beta Posted on: 31.10.2012 by Leeanna Ayla http://www.mixedinkey.com/beta
Mixed In Key will show you the energy level of your tracks on a scale from 1 to 10. The value tells you how danceable that song is. House music is usually around 6-8. The biggest anthems will be 9-10. Deeper music might be 5.
It's an amazing way to predict the crowd reaction to a specific track. Our software analyzes the rhythm, the bassline and the melody of each track to give you more insight into your music. | |

Halley Wurzer 01.11.2012 | Ya I am just a little tired of another aspect of DJing getting 'automated' every month it seems. C'est la vie.. |
Leeanna Ayla 01.11.2012 | That's how I got where I am today. Well minus the illegal downlands, parents money and all the computer stuff. |
Ulysses Vittetoe 01.11.2012 | Not sure why this would bother anyone. It's a cool feature that they added to a useful program that you can completely ignore if you don't find it useful... |
Edwardo Rothenberger 01.11.2012 | Initially I thought this was just a rubbish idea, but I was recently believeing of putting my music into folders, such as warm up material, mid-vide, and full on stonkers. Obviously tagging them in this way could be a way of doing this without putting them into folders. Might try it and see if I get an 11 |
Nelson Assefa 01.11.2012 | showed nothing higher than an 8 for me, so not sure if this is a good or bad ideal . but its just a tool and not going to tell the dance floor you should be dancing this song is a 10 lol |
Halley Wurzer 01.11.2012 | So now you can download all of your music illegally, get keys and energy levels from MIK, buy some new CDJs with your parents money that will sync tracks for you and give you stop or go lights for what track to play next, and you can play the biggest parties jesus posing like Guetta flawlessly (enough for all the drunk people) with no experience, right? Sick!!! |
Catharine Okamura 02.11.2012 | I've found the colour and brightness of the spectrum waveform in Traktor can help when judging the energy level of a track. Duller, redder looking waveforms tend more towards deep bassy vibes, while the bright ones with lots of purple are often more trebley and frenetic. It will be interesting to see if these tendencies correlate with MIK's results. |

E.g Somebody who listen's to soulful (energetic in a way??) country is in no way possible going to find a high energy hardcore 170bpm song good are they? I guess they would just be taking a random stab at believeing something with a variable waveform is going to be energetic for a crowd. Why let a computer choose what could sound good? Instead listen to your collection and sort then some way according to the genre and your personal rating is what I believe is best... I'm with Patch on this one and believe its a bad turn. I won't sit here and say its totally horrible until ive tried the thing though!!! |
Brunilda Kora 01.11.2012 | Anybody ran any Country through MIK5.5 yet? I need to know which Dolly Parton joint to drop at peak time, right after the Crazy Frog song ('cos, if Crazy Frog ain't a 10 I don't know what is. I don't wanna live in a world where Crazy Frog ain't a 10). Guys - lets just agree RIGHT NOW. NO-ONE here at DJTT should use this feature. We need to stand up and be counted. This is a DOG SHIT feature that anyone with half a brain would ignore. Boycott this crap. We could lead the way in keeping the integrity alive in DJ'ing. Right here. I'm making a stand. Who's with me? |

Rochel Gleese 01.11.2012 | AIFFtag support yet? |
Johnsie Kingrea 01.11.2012 | I have a love hate relationship with this feature. Yes it's making it easier to find tracks that match in energy but again this just seems like another step towards microwave djing by doing something that most DJs should know in their own. Basically I just don't want to see beginners relying on this and not learning their tracks, just cause the computer says a song is a 6 doesn't mean it's not a playable song. This makes me believe when DJs will trust the auto BPM detection and believe a hip hop song is 168 BPM, when really you should know That's not right and traktor just doubled the BPM speed. Tools like these should be used as a reference or guideline but not relied upon absolutely. I believe the real benefit of tools like these is allowing DJs to quickly experiment with new music and sort through music faster. Lets face it the rate of music is only increasing and tools like these could help filter through all of it. What I'd like to see is Traktor be able to recognize your play patterns. So that it know what songs you tend to put together, and suggest them in the future. Again with so much music out there and so many possibilities for mixing I believe this would allow you to comfortably know that traktor is remembering all of your favourite mixes and transitions so that you can focus on finding new ones to add, and it would just keep remembering the ones you tend to put together. |

Fatimah Czuprynski 31.10.2012 | instead of this useless feature, (because i kinda know whats in my collection) they should bring a software-update that fills in the missing fields in the tag information. I never found a software that automaticly updated artworks and didn't had less than 50 % wrong. there are some that cost a little but i already paid for MiK so that would be a deal. PS: i brought the tracks, but even when you buy tracks from beatport, old tracks don't have the artwork included. |
Danae Dumler 31.10.2012 | The problem is that this info is less useful if it crosses genres; I'm assuming deep and tech house for example will consistently come up as lower energy than electro house or ghettotech. And I'm assuming the ratings are based on the song, not dynamic depending on what's in your collection. I believe it's a good idea but I have a hard time getting my head around how you could implement it usefully. |
Brunilda Kora 31.10.2012 | I don't know if I like this. I'm all for knowing the key and the BPM of your tracks. Key and BPM ARE NOT subjective. Energy level is subjective - what I consider a high energy track may not necessarily be what anyone else considers a high energy track. This is a step in the wrong direction for anybody that is serious about DJ'ing. There are no shorts! |
Otto Luthman 31.10.2012 | Just re-analyzed my collection and nothing higher than an 8
would be interesting to see if anyone has a 9 or 10 |
Leeanna Ayla 31.10.2012 | It's a guide, that's all. Sure you can set the number yourself and it will be correct, but having software that does it for you is nice if it actually works. I have noticed that it's a little higher across the board than I am, but as long as it's consistent I have no problem with that. |

Ulysses Vittetoe 01.11.2012 | Anyone want to rattle off some tunes that scored a 10? I'd be interested to see a list. |

I'm interested in how MIK does in comparison to what I've already done over the last couple of years. I don't see a way to add it to a tag as of yet, but it's beta so that may be coming. What's most disappointing to me is that MIK 5 seems to be very slow on my 09 mbp. I thought it was supposed to be faster? |
Kandy Ahdoot 31.10.2012 | so now software reads the predicts crowd reaction? Dear lord |
Tatum Ansaldo 31.10.2012 | It's not a totally stupid idea, but I can't find a way to write the 'energy level' to a tag, so unless I've just missed it it's pretty useless as is. |
Joesph Kasian 31.10.2012 | Lord save us, guess they ran out of ideas near the end. |
