You see, now I have some tangible information to work with for making better music, and you have some practice at giving relevant feedback. I seen a sh!t load of videos, spent countless hours working on music and learning as much as I can. I appreciate your suggestion to continue doing so. I know I still have a lot to learn. "How long have you even been doing, and why did you feel the need to try and produce music?" More seriously for about a year. I do it because I enjoy it, and feel it's a healthy creative outlet. I know you're a really smart dude, and you have (mad) knowledge on this stuff. So smart you probably figured a lot of this stuff out your self. But, you can't expect that everyone else is as smart, learns as fast, or even in the same way as you did. You're just setting your self up for disappointment to do so. I want to hear the intelligent thoughts you have, but it's like pulling teeth sometimes because you act like people are wasting your time. If there is any of your time wasted on here, there is only one person responsible for that. I would much rather have a multi-paragraph explanation (Even with a few personal barbs in it, if you really can't help it. I ain't no pussy, bring it.), or get nothing at all. If you don't respect my music, or where I'm at in the learning process, that's your right. But respect your self enough to give a full ass answer(as you eventually did). Through education and practice, I'm an expert in communication, feedback, etc. (not bragging, it just is what it is) I don't expect anyone on here to be as experienced in meaningful communication skills. Thought, I could just as easily expect that anyone who had been talking for most their life "should" be able to give concise, relevant feedback with out judgment or ego, but that isn't always the case. That's just life. If I did have that expectation, I would probably be very frustrated with most people, and believe I was wasting my time talking to idiots. I would tell them to go away, learn how to hold an adult conversion, and then come back to me.(sound familiar?) But I don't, because not only would the other person not learn anything, I wouldn't either. Instead, I choose to accept were people are at in their process, and help as best I can. It's all good. We are all here to learn, grow, and have fun doing so. Thank you for taking the time to give a more in depth response to the music. In doing so you are not only helping me, but your self, and others as well. |

Georgina Schatzman 05.09.2012 | *sigh* The track is absolute garbage, not original or inspiring in the least bit. The chord progression is very predictable and it lacks energy. There is no weight or heft to it, and the mix down itself very lacking. it physically hurts to listen to it once those strings come in. Harsh is an understatement. They don't sit in the mix at all, they just take it over. And that off bass is not helping you at all, because it doesn't do anything. You may believe it's adding energy, but trust me it is definitely not. The arrangement alone lacks any interesting or drive/energy that would make people want to listen to it again and keep on dancing. It's very monotonous and lacking any dynamics at all. The drums are very stiff, with not even an ounce of swing in them it feels. Just a 4/4 kick with a 2/4 Snare and an off hat with a little fill at the end of the phrase, and the fill itself is very still without any funk to it (how some one does that is beyond me). And then the sounds themselves are atrocious. Sounds like you found a synth from 1998 loaded with all the cheesiest trance presets of the era and are just using those. When's the last time you were in an actual club? Like I said, "ouch". Anyone who's been producing for a minute should be able to tell you all of this, and the fact that you needed some one to tell you this speaks volumes about you as a producer. Instead of sharing your music right now, go back to the studio, hunker down and actually work on developing your craft and style and learn as much as you can by reading and watching tutorials and possibly find a local producer to hopefully take you under their wing. How long have you even been doing, and why did you feel the need to try and produce music? |
Iluminada Gallelli 05.09.2012 | Jason- The cryptic messages are cute, but it's not really helping. Anyone can type "ouch", and leave it at that. People who know what they are doing type "ouch", and then go on to give specifics that support their opinion (see seitz's feedback).. So either you don't know what your talking about, or you're just being lazy. I'm going to give you some credit, and say it's just being lazy. seitz- Thank you for your feedback. As far as the cheese, were you referencing the instruments, samples, or all of the above? |
Maricruz Mouw 05.09.2012 | work on the mix down and the quality of your sounds (which sound cheesy) |
Georgina Schatzman 05.09.2012 | Just listen to your track, should be able to tell right away |
Iluminada Gallelli 05.09.2012 | What makes you say that? |
Georgina Schatzman 05.09.2012 | Mastering is the least of your worries now |
Iluminada Gallelli 05.09.2012 | What? |
Georgina Schatzman 05.09.2012 | Ouch |
