Electronic gear and cold weather
Posted on: 14.12.2012 by Hosea Fokas
I have some gear that is set up in an unheated and uninsulated storage space. The weather doesnt get too cold here in California but I'm wondering if I should worry at all? The gear is basically my analog dj equipement. Rane Mixer, Tech 1200's, JBL LSR series speakers, Subwoofer, a couple of old DAT decks, some amps, etc.

Should I tear it down and store it inside for the winter? I was reading some old post on different community s saying cold weather can snap soldered joints? Or the condensation that forms from moving from the cold into the heat can short out equipement? Does it get cold enough here in california for that? Im mostly concerned about the speakers and the 1200's...
