VCI-400 EGE latency issues

I was messing around last evening with my VCI-400 ege and noticed that there was a delay when I would try and trigger cues or scratch. I'm assuming it's a latency issue. I moved the default latency setting to the lowest possible. That seemed to fix it... but made me curious, what does everyone else use for this setting? Have you noticed any audio issues if you have lowered it to the lowest possible? I have a new MBP so I'm hoping it is okay for me to have it on the lowest. I didn't notice any issues afterwards but then again I only played another 2 or 3 tracks after changing the setting.
