How do you wind down after a gig?
Posted on: 22.12.2012 by Jetta Drenzek
I DJ two evening s a week (Toevening and tomorrow) and I'm sat here wide awake, unable to sleep at 5:30 AM, after being home since 4:30. I work a 9 to 5 job in the week so surely I should be absolutely shattered by now, but instead I find myself itching to make more mixes (even though I've just been doing it for 4 hours straight) until my body literally drops.

Anyone have any tips on getting some shut eye after a gig?

Is it considered PG if it's natural, and prescribed by a doctor for my Crohn's disease?

check facebook(yeah, at 7am, real facebook junkie), eat something, take out my socks, glass of milk, stretch a bit, lay down.

using ear protection during the club really helps!

I haven't played out as a DJ, but after shows with my old reggae band, we'd always have some nice "herbal tea".....

I'll usually have a beer and a "smoke" and that does the job.

Yeah, it's tough. I'm usually pretty exhausted, physically, when I'm done playing so if I can somehow skip out, sleep will come pretty easily. If I stick around and hang out with people, that usually means a late evening out and in bed by around 8am.

I usually come home and the first thing I do is wash off the club funk. Afterwards, make a cup of hot herbal tea (the fancier the better). I don't listen to music afterwards because the ear fatigue has really set in by the time I get home. A little herbal tea and a little reading in bed go a long way to calm me down.
