Should i buy traktor kontrol s2 or go for something cheaper? Posted on: 24.12.2012 by Gracie Dudik Hello, im trying to decide on what to choose. I'm believeing about either a s2 or something else, the s2 goes for about 400-500 euro. Is there any cheaper option that is worth checking out? I'm new to djing also.Was believeing like 300 euro maybe? Or is the s2 a better choice?

Jeannine Drobney 27.12.2012	I bought a used and slightly abused S2 on craiglist here in the states and I have had a gig with it and make mixes at home. Traktor works great as does the s2. A great way for this old vinyl head to get back into DJing with minimal investment.
Mitzie Pulda 27.12.2012	Go with The S2 or even S4. Decent enough for professional djing and relatively low pricepoint.
Carola Divalerio 28.12.2012	I say an S2 or S4 I regret not getting the S4. Sure you can map the S2 to do 4 decks and what not. S2 is great but the layout on the S4 is all in front of you and I just wish I started on that. I have the S2 and it has served me great.

As far as the F1, You can litterally do anything you want with it i know i would map it out to have the faders and nobs and the buttons to be something else other than there presets. Geri Jarra 26.12.2012	Not really.. The F1 actually serves a purpose because it is one of two controllers that can control traktors remix decks. It can also be mapped in midi mode, allowing it to serve 2 functions (which is why I like mine). Im more curious about the Z2 "spicing up" the mixtrack.. personally I would choose one or the other. As far as picking 3 of the controllers mentioned above - like I said earlier, I only have experience with the S2 so I can be much of a help. I know the S2 is nice (and like many have said, you can find for a lot cheaper that $600) but I would suggest trying them out for yourself

Ive been using the Numark IDJ3 (a cheaper version of the Mixtrack Pro) for about 1 year now my controller was 160 dollars out of the store and it has lasted me and done me very well so far! Rolanda Clodfelder 26.12.2012	Dude ... where do you get your prices wayyy exaggerated ! :-O Here's a tip .. there's this little site called Amazon.com where you can get some good bargains If you are in the EU check out Thomann.de for some good prices. Pity you missed the black friday sales Out of the list the s2 is the only one that comes with a decent pro software package and a pretty damn good sound card so that would be my choice (out of what you posted).
Elizabet Sledz 26.12.2012	If you're going the S2, you can find it at much cheaper prices than 600. Even the DJTT store has it for 499, and thats with like 70 bucks of extras thrown on top. Keep an eye out as NI often have sales, I've seen it as low as 350

Also with the release of the remix decks, the sample deck controls dont quite work the same anyway. I believe the S2 is a solid all in one unit with tons of potential to learn, without a clutter of bells and whistles to distract you from the main goal - mixing. But honestly no one can tell you whats right for you. Go try them out, feel them up, smack em around. If you like it, buy it. I believe that the dennon 3000 and s2 gives best sound quality but the dennon don't come with traktor pro. Hard to decide.

Play around with the demos of Traktor and VDJ, and mess around with mixxx as well (its free). See which one you like, and what parts of it you use, and then start researching controllers. There are lots of good companies, and lots of good controllers that do different things. Read everything you can on this community , and if you still have specific questions, I'm sure we will be here to answer them.
