I believe you understated the over exposure of the dubby dub. LOL

Midtempo breaks are making a big push right now. Thats what ive been looking for a lot.

I'd say the Deekline track is more UKG/2 Step personally.

Most of the mix is Rave Breaks I'll concede, hence the nod to the early 90's sound you refer to but they are new productions. Future Jungle is similarly paced at 140-150BPM i.e. slower than D&B, there are a couple of in the middle which are true FJ.

Hi,

In the end I had an great gig, but with huge amont off stress before.

I work in a swiss alp restaurant with a great after ski bar, where I play anything I want, deep/funky/tech/club house, nu disco, disco edits.

At NYE we try to turn the restaurant in to a evening club. We start the evening with dinner, around 120 people. Then at 12, we push everyone out for a firework and in 20 minutes we clear all the tables and I set up the sound and the dj both, all cabling are prepared before dinner. But still a lot of stress. The dj both is just a table where people was eating before. I small light rig was installed.

So its 12 o clock and im stressing like hell to connect it all. On my computer, mac, I run Tractor, MyDMX (DMX light program) and with windows running a live streaming program to the local radio station.

Everything is connected and it works, my table / dj both looks like shit with cables everywhere. I look to my right and I see a guy I seen before a lot is sitting at my table, Bono from U2, like 2 meter away!!! I was believeing, my dj both look so crapy :-( Anyway Bono and he's family is great, very polite.

Our idea for NYE was to play very cheese, like all the top hits ever made. But I started kind of deep club music and people went crazy. The response was amazing. So I continued with that and had I great gig to 5 am.

But I do wish a took a picture with Bono.

Peace and Love

DJ'd at the club I'm resident DJ of.

Was brilliant. Night started off slow but by 11pm it was rammed.

Brought in the New Year with a voice over Don't You Worry Child and when it kicked in, the club pyrotechnics went off and the place just exploded.

Had 2 power cuts at around 1.30am which was no fun at all, no music for 5 minutes or so, came back on and then went off again for another 5 minutes, absolute evening mare scenario! Felt like crying. Just so happy it didn't happen at midevening .

mine went very well. got the freedom to play anything i wanted and the crowd went along. we have different group of friends that listen to different types of house. some are dancers, ragers, and some are hip hop heads. so, i went all over the place from progressive, deep, bass, disco, trap, electro, and dubstep. can't complain on anything atm.

Probably one of the best and most enjoyable sets I've played in a long while, I came on after Bill Brewster and played 3-5am and kept it deep but jumping. Wicked crowd, wicked sound system (funktion one).

Loved it

Another dj and I were supposed to trade off from midevening until four. He got on at twelve, and when I got on at 12:30 he mumbled something in my ear that ended with "Have a nice evening man" and that was the last I saw of him. I was kind of pissed that he dipped out and left me to go the whole evening , but we got shut down for too many fights and too much noise at two anyway. The crowd loved it while it lasted, so it was a good evening .

OMFG ROFL!!! Same here man... some chick came out asking for that Thrift shop song for like 30 min... i was like i don't have it she said i got it on my iphone... i told her i didnt have the cable then i droped Chuckie and Jermain dupree mashup and the place went nuts

I played from 11:30pm-3am. There was a live rock band that played from 9:30 to 10:30 then another dj went on before me and started spinning drum and bass and dubstep.... well sadly he got his set cut short and i went on not my decision... all and all it's all about preparing. The more you play out the better you are at reading crowds. The right song at the right time will always outperform a technically perfect set. but it dont hurt to do both :P

I mean did you ever play it? That song gets the hands down biggest hype over here still.. Especially on nye.

The people at my gig were so drunk they screamed "yeah dubstep!" when I played some funk for them for shits and giggles. Lovely crowd, just wanted them further away from my table with all their damn champagne.

I dunno if it counts, but I got thrown in the deep end for work, and had to do lighting OP for a rock/pop concert =P. Most lighting experience I've had is in small theatres, and this was for a crowd of a few thousand in a park (I believe it hit 15k at one stage). Different kind of gig, but still fun.
