The Fidler is correct.

By default the LEDs turn on when the key is pressed and turn off when it's released. If you want *TOTAL MIDI CONTROL* (ol...ol...ol...) then you can turn this off via the Menu System so that pressing a key will not light an LED. It's then up to your MIDI software to turn lights on for KeyDown messages and off for KeyUp messages to keep the device in sync.

This allows you to do tricks like toggling values where the first keydown turns on an LED and the second keydown turns it off again and the keyups are ignored. You also get to use the LEDs to display information like which "bank" is active or which effects are active right now. You have TOTAL CONTROL, you make the LEDs mean what you want them to mean.

The Midi Fighter default configuration is to illuminate the LED while the button is pressed regardless of what the midi state is.

You can turn this off by disabling Key Press LED in the configuration utility.

Send a MIDI note to the Midifighter with the same note number as the keypress.
KeyDown for LED on.
KeyUp (or KeyDown with velocity 0) for LED off.

Simple as that.
